The Truman Show - Film, Nominations, and Awards
The Truman Show is a film about the reality show surrounding the life of Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey). What makes Truman's reality show so interesting is that he has no idea that he is part of it. Truman lives in a beautiful domed studio in California and everything that surrounds him is completely scripted. Every day viewers tune in to see what will happen in Truman's life as they have since Truman's birth, which started the show.
Now that Truman is an adult he starts putting together the pieces of his world and discovers that things are not quite as they seem. As Truman beings to discuss life outside of his beautiful city, the actors around him including his wife, Meryl Burbank (Laura Linney), do everything they can to convince him that there is nothing to see out there. Although he listens to his friends, Truman cannot deny himself and his passion to travel. Truman finally discovers what is truly important which is portrayed beautifully in the final scene of the film.
