Akwa ibom state
Akwaibom State is a small state in the southern part of Nigeria. A country in west Africa. The state is one of the most beautiful states in Nigeria and its often known for its peaceful serenity and its homeliness to strangers.
The people of Akwaibom state are always known to be people who like enjoyment and pleasure.Akwaibom State also has a very beautiful and rich cultural heritage which i will mention in subsequent posts.
The bridge of no return
In the ancient city of Opobo which is now Ikot abasi , lies the dreaded bridge of no return.It was the final place where slaves were being taken out from opobo town and transported to the middle of the sea for shipment to the European slave masters. No slave ever went down that bridge and came back alive.
We Africans hear stories from our grand parents on how our ancestors were being sold as slaves. Thanks to the abolishment of slave trade by the Americans. I want to use this medium and let the whole world know that Africans are still being sold as slaves in libya.
The bridge which once dreaded for its path into slavery is one of the tourist centres in Akwaibom state which pictures an air of freedom.
