Sky and clouds on the way to my Chinese class, ฟ้าและเมฆตอนไปเรียนภาษาจีน

This is my entry for #thaiphotocontest45 on sky and clouds photography. The day is very hot and there is no sign of any rain even though the weatherman has predicted a few days of heavy rain.

A friend of mine has put me on a basic Chinese class for weeks. She did this free elementary course last year and told me to take it at the first opportunity. It is an intensive program which should enable us to make simple conversation. So, we do not learn about pronunciation or the alphabets. We just launch into basic greetings and learning how to talk about family members, ordering food at restaurants and buying fruits and so on.

I was totally lost during the first week, as I could not match the sounds with the written words. Oh! We do not learn to write or read the Chinese characters, we learn about English alphabets with Chinese sounds. I keep pronouncing according to the sounds of those Chinese alphabets. Finally I have to make an effort to program my mind to switch to Chinese sound system. But the four accents just keep beating me up. I have learnt so much about the peculiarity of Chinese language. This has been a very good experience for me as I almost gave up mid-way ; it is very difficult to learn Chinese language in a short time! Now, I have the confidence to proceed on my own with videos and perhaps some more classes in the future! I would miss the class and my walk under the bright sunshine along the leafy path to the classroom.

The funny thing is that I have just help the fruit vendor selling fruits to two nice looking middle age Chinese tourists. Even though my pronunciation is very quirk, they thanked me profusely for trying to speak in Mandarin! There will be more Chinese tourists in the future so I should have more chance to practice my basic sentences!!

Role playing in Chinese language class.

วันนี้แดดจัดมาก ไม่มีวี่แววของฝนเลยแม้ว่า ท้องฟ้าจะมีเมฆดำทมึนในตอนเช้า พอตอนเที่ยงฟ้าสีสดใส อากาศร้อนมากเป็นพิเศษ เราจึงถือโอกาสถ่ายรูประหว่างทางที่เราเดินไปเรียนภาษาจีนไว้เตือนใจว่าเจอภาษาที่เรียนยากที่สุดแล้ว ต้องขอบใจเพื่อนที่บอกให้เรารู้ว่ามีการสอนภาษาจีนฟรีแบบเร่งรัด เพื่อนบอกให้เราโมรไปลงชื่อไว้ทันทีที่เขาเปิดรับ

เราไม่มีความรู้พื้นฐานมาเลยจึงรู้สึกแย่มาก และหลงทางอยู่พักหนึ่ง จนต้องบอกให้ตัวเองจำเสียงให้ได้. เราไม่ได้เรียนอ่านหรือเขียนตัวอักษรจีนเลย แต่เป็นการเรียนแบบ เผิงอิงคือ ใช้ภาษาอังกฤษแต่ออกเสียงเป็นภาษาจีน เราสับสนเกือบแย่ เพราะเราออกเสียงแบบภาษาอังกฤษ ตอนหลังต้องบอกให้ตัวเองจำเป็นเสียงภาษาจีน นี่เป็นการท้าทายมาก เป็นภาษาที่เรียนยากจริง เพราะต้องจำอย่างเดียว เราได้ความรู้เริ่มต้นมาบ้างแล้ว ก็จะทำให้เรามาคิดวางแผนเรียนต่อภาษาจีนต่อไป เราคิดว่ามันจำเป็นมากในอนาคต ที่ตลกคือเราพึ่งช่วยคนขายผลไม้พูดกับลูกค้าคนจีน จนเขาเข้าใจและซื้อผลไม้ด้วยความราบรื่น การออกเสียงของเราเพี้ยนมาก เขาต้องทวนคำพูดของเราอย่างถูกต้อง สองคนนี้ดูท่าทางเป็นคนมีการศึกษาสูง เขาจอบใจเราที่พยายามพูดภาษาจีนกลางกับเขา เพื่อนๆควรเรียนภาษาจีนกลางกันได้แล้ว!
