Amazon Web Services now includes a Blockchain option
Several technology companies have shown great interest in offering blockchain features as a service. By doing so, these technological giants are allowing digital accounting books to flourish, while making it easier for developers to build new decentralized applications. Amazon Web Services started offering BaaS, which is a pretty amazing development.
A curious decision by Amazon
For quite some time, people were wondering if Amazon would join Blockchain or cryptocurrencies, and when. While it seems very unlikely that the company will ever support Bitcoin payments or related currencies, Amazon recognizes the potential of blockchain technology.
More specifically, Amazon's web services, also known as AWS, now offer blockchain functions as a service to all its customers.
This is a very peculiar development that very few people expected to see at this time. That's not because the blockchain technology has no potential, but quite the opposite, because Amazon apparently had no plans to follow this path. Even so, competition is a good thing, especially in the BaaS industry.
Amazon Web Services joins a growing list of companies that offer blockchain-as-a-service features to their customers. In fact, it seems that other important companies have followed this path in recent years. At this time, companies, including IBM, HP, Microsoft and even SAP, offer blockchain features as a service, confirming that there is growing interest in this technology.
Although it seems that Amazon Web Services is doing exactly the same as all these other providers, there is a big difference. More specifically, Amazon has made it clear that its adoption of BaaS is very different from all other offers in the current market.
The technology giant says it is primarily interested in driving the mass adoption of blockchain technology through use cases from which people can benefit sooner rather than later.
