GRATITUDEDAY 28: WED-WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
World Environment Day (WED), is the United Nations' (UN) most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness campaign actions for the protection of the earth and our environment.
Since its inception in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries of the world. The World Environment Day is the "people's day" for doing something in particular to take care of our environment -the Earth.
Each year, World Environment Day celebration is organised around a theme that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental concern. The theme for the World Environment Day 2018 is "Beat Plastic Pollution".
The Lagos State Ministry of Environment celebrated it with Save the Children internarional, delegates from various public and private stakeholders and school children.
The types of plastics were taught, the degradable and non degradable. Also how children, parents, individuals, corporate organisations and the government can work together for the sake of our environment.
An MOU was signed between the government and its Consultants to collaborate with the Lagos State University research team on waste management,headed by Prof. Babajide a Professor of Biochemistry. Director, Centre for Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development, LASU.
Chemical Society of Nigeria CSN was present to give a lecture on "Single Use Plastics Practices: Implication on Human and Environment" by Mr. Babajide Odejobi

I am grateful that these school children were well informed about saving the environment and their future.
From the questions asked today by them, it gave an indication of a generation that would be concious of saving their environment.
This is everyone's responsibility to save mother earth.
