Happiness is the best feeling in the world! (Day 10 of 30 of the Happiness Challenge).
According to the dictionary happiness is described as:
contentment, pleasure, contentedness, satisfaction, cheerfulness, cheeriness, merriment, merriness, gaiety, joy, joyfulness, joyousness, joviality, jollity, jolliness, glee, blitheness, carefreeness, gladness, delight, good spirits, high spirits, lightheartedness, good cheer, well-being, and enjoyment.
When was the last time you have felt any of these above mentioned feelings? We are so stressed that we forget to let go at times and just feel the happiness flowing through us. We are so much part of a race to get ahead that we forget to just stand still and to look at what we have around us.
I believe that thanksgiving was celebrated all over America yesterday. Although this is not celebrated in our country, I think it is a wonderful idea to celebrate and to spend time with family and friends. It is a time to be happy and to feel all of those above-mentioned feelings. It's a time to just relax, and to be happy and content with everything that we achieved in our lives.
There is obviously a religious and historical connection with thanksgiving day, but in time, instead of celebrating the past, thanksgiving became part of the present, and changed into a celebration of being thankful for present happenings in our lives.
Thanksgiving should not only be once a year, it should be every day of our lives. We should constantly seek happiness and we should always be thankful for what we have.
Life is too short not to be happy. Take today and be thankful, for everything that you achieved in your life. Be thankful for the people around you, and change your outlook on life.
Life is just about happiness....
This is a text that I received recently:
The last wishes of Alexander the Great.........
On his death bed, Alexander summoned his army generals and told them his three ultimate wishes:
1. The best doctors should carry his coffin ...
2. The wealth he has accumulated (money, gold, precious stones) should be scattered along the procession to the cemetery ...
3. His hands should be let loose, so they hang outside the coffin for all to see !!
One of his generals who was surprised by these unusual requests asked Alexander to explain .
Here is what Alexander the Great had to say :
1. "I want the best doctors to carry my coffin to demonstrate that in the face of death , even the best doctors in the world have no power to heal .."
2. "I want the road to be covered with my treasure so that everybody sees that material wealth acquired on earth, will stay on earth.."
3. I want my hands to swing in the wind, so that people understand that we come to this world empty handed and we leave this world empty handed after the most precious treasure of all is exhausted, and that is : TIME.
We do not take to our grave any material wealth. TIME is our most precious treasure because it is LIMITED. We can produce more wealth, but we cannot produce more time.
When we give someone our time, we actually give a portion of our life that we will never take back. Our time is our life !
:) Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.
Definitely! If life was just as easy as that!
