Freewrite Day 674 Blue Collar

“Blue collar” is a term for workers who do not have college degrees. It used to be these people did not do as well as those who go to college, but that is not longer completely true.

Many blue collar jobs are crying out for workers these days. Any many colloge graduates cannot find work.

My ex-husband was a construction plumber for most of the years we were married. But near the end of that time he decided to go to college and get a degree. He noticed how much the job aged those who did it. Most of them had very bad knees after 30 years on the job. He had several types of kneepads, but still they did not help. He was not yet 40 when he decided to get out of that line of work.

Other blue collar jobs might have you on your feet all day, and that can be hard. But in my case, I worked in offices, with a degree, and in a “white collar” world. At the end of 30 years of sitting at a desk all day, I was morbidly obese and could barely move. So every job has its difficulties and perils.

This week I am attempting to be able to pay my monthly wifi bill ($25 usd) and eat ($25 usd). I am asking for help and have already gotten some from my steeming friends. I m so thankful to you and optimistic I will succeed. My wifi is due on my Tuesday, your Monday, since I am in Malaysia.

But $50 usd is now 270 STEEM! Can you believe that? I am not sure how I can possibly continue and this is why I am asking for your help.

Why should you help me? Why do I think I am worthy of help?

I am an asset to the STEEM Blockchain. My constant effort goes to helping redfish and minnows grow here.

I work on three blogs, creating 40+ posts each week. The most important things I post are minnow tips to help others. Here is a post from a few weeks ago with a summary of many of those tips.

You CAN Succeed on STEEM

I am working on a new set of posts in light of all the new tribes and options for them. It is a whole now world of STEEM now that this has happened.

My post is for the #freewrite daily challenge by @mariannewest. Freewrite is a great way to post on STEEM when you do not think you have the time, or talent, or anything to say. It’s a great way to start regular posting, and I know you can do this too! Here is Marianne’s freewrite prompt post for today. Give it a try and surprise yourself.

Certainly every job has its advantages and disadvantages, the thing is like dealing with the cons and not allowing them to affect us.

Good point, @isgledysduarte. It's best to do anything with a positive attitude. This makes all the difference in the world.

Interesting concept. It's great to learn new English expressions like this one. I'm definitely a blue collar, in Venezuela is really hard to get a career and the most of our college students need to find a job or even leave the country. This is, sadly, a blue collar nation.

I think, as a libertarian in essence and true believer of the greatness of free market and capitalism, that having a degree is not enough to be a professional and many professional workers doesn't even have a degree. In the freelance world that is very obvious, but companies just don't get it yet.

One of the most known personalities and business man that stand for the idea of hiring people for his habilites and not for a diploma is Bill Gates, one of the richest guys in the world and, in fact, a blue collar. We need to go forward with this idea.

First of a !tip s a little way to help its worth wya more than my upvotes

Secondly I am a blue collar worker, and often people who have degrees may look down on blue collar workers, but that just shows there lack of world view without the blue collar workers they would not to be able to do what they do

Plus I am a great believe a degree of life experience is worth more than a degree for three years supposedly studying and often partying to get a piece of paper that they value so much

And I could have easily gone to college and got a degree, I was offered full scholarships and was one of the top students in our country at the time (not to mention I was offered membership into the 1% Mensa Society)and i got nagged by the teachers that I had to go to UNiversity, but plain and simple i was bored with schooling and wanted to get out and work,so I agreed on a compromise, one or two years work experience then I would go and start my studies

Well I never kept my side of the deal and am blue collar through and through :)

I never kept my side of the deal

Haha! Why am I not surprised? I think blue collar workers are doing the right thing in most cases. There are so many jobs for them now and few in offices. And you stay active which is better for your health.

TY so much for the tip and vote. Both mean so much to me, @tattoodjay.

Yes I guess I have always been rebellious lol
