The Realities Of Life And Those who Feel They Can Cheat Fate # A True Life Story
It is Funny when we look back at yesterday, and reminisce .We used to think that the world is our's for the taking. Our eyes lit with hope as we look at the future with glee. But most times life plays a very hard hand on us, and the joke is on us.
Most misadventures, comes from the very simple but costly mistakes we make in life. Most often we are not prepared for what the future have in store for us Because we were naive and young, we leave our Brain's behind and take a collision cause with our hearts,Many a would be successful woman have dropped out of school just because of one wrong step.
They begin to negotiate with life , for instance her dream was to become a medical doctor, after the unwanted child is born, she begins to look for other ways to survive, herself and the newly born .
If she is really unlucky,The man that impregnated her would deny being the biological father.
This mounts a lot of pressure on the young unprepared mother for the task ahead.
Most often the the people who souround her add more to her plight .She feels alone and without surpport. She begins to negotiate with what life has to offer.
With ever increasing bills to be paid, coupled with the shame of having a child outside wedlock, the young unsuspecting young mother is left most often to fend for herself and the young child. She is depressed and virualy becomes a very unhappy person.Let's not forget that in the society we are today the child is looked at as a basterd expecialy in The African society. Thus, fate has been transferred from mother to child.
Some young ladies have cheated life, and have come out stronger than one can ever fathom, some lucky once with the help of their parents and loved once, other fought it out and won.
But the truth of the matter is that it always leaves a very bad scar. Most women don't really over come this tragedy,it live"s with them for many years. It is locked inside of them, they begin to have trust issues and are most often different from the little innocent. Girl you once knew few moons ago .
My friend did not come out strong from this challenge, she was engulfed in it and perhaps consumed by it.
I can recall were both undergraduates back then, she is very intelligent, but she was in love,head- over heels with this boy.
Suddenly the news about her pregnancy filled the campus like a foul smell, and trust students, everyone had something bad to say about her.
I can recall when her mum came over to pack her things from the hostel,I was short of words on how to encourage her.She was downcast, like an outcast she was escorted by her peers,to the bus- park .When I looked at their faces, most of them where happy it happened, while some were just telling themselves how smart they where by not being in her shoes. But it all boils down to a Nigerian proverb that say"everyone is a thief, but the one caught in the act is a criminal" funy right????
As I type this unpublished post,I don't know her whereabouts .
This narrative is coming from the heels of the impending Valentine day celebration.Use your head. If you must have sex, have it protected.
From a broader perpective,a fresh graduate with High hopes is dashed after series of interviews and for every one he did not get a positive response,he begins to bergain with life, it is just like two men playing a chess game. This is the sad reality most of us go through today, some have come out stronger , but most have been engulfed by the accompanying challenges that comes with joblessness.
My advice to anyone reading this, is to have a positive mind set, see a solution in every problem.be a problem solver, never be afraid to take the right step in a positive direction.empower yourself,go back to school, study hard, learn a trade , and insist on having a multiple stream of income.
Most importantly"Believe in Yourself".
