My favourite part of the world cup so far has been the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. People from every corner of the globe has gathered in Russia to engage in the biggest sports event in the past 4 years.

More than 44,000 Mexicans came to Russia. The Russians love our vibe, our party instinct and the chill attitude we have. Win, tie or lose, Mexican fans took very seriously the task of being the life of the party in the streets of every city we visited and one of our banners - perhaps the most famous and loved one - is the "sombrero" (Hat).

During the first week I was in Russia, I regretted not bringing a Sombrero from Mexico because I noticed EVERY person in the street wanted to get a picture wearing it or with the owner wearing the hat. It was like a magnet for every Mexican smart enough to bring one, especially a girl magnet.

Some Mexicans got kisses in return for a picture, some others even got cellphone numbers and the lucky ones, even got a dinner invitation with a beautiful Russian girl.

A week ago I was browsing the Facebook group Mexicans have: A group with more than 12,000 members, all mexicans, who attended the world cup; I was lucky to be the first person to read a post by a Mexican who was leaving: I am going back to Mexico and I can´t fit my sombrero in my luggage, anyone wants to buy it from me?

I didn´t think it twice and I sent a message to my new friend and, after meeting him halfway in a metro station and investing 25 usd, I was the new owner of a Mexican Sombrero.

I decided to try it´s magic the next day and I wore it while walking by the Street called "Nikolskaya", the most popular street to celebrate or meet people in Moscow.

It didn´t take long before I decided to stop wearing it, because in less than one hour, more than 40 people approached me to either take a picture with it or to take a picture with me wearing it.

I don´t have it anymore, I gave it away to one of the most beautiful girls I´ve met in my life and guess, what? I had dinner with her a few days ago and I´m meeting her again in a few days. I think I might have found a keeper. I´ll keep you posted about it.

Don´t pay attention to me, I think I look terrible in some pictures but I´m still uploading them because I want you to see all the people I met. Some are not looking at my camera because as I said, every one of them wanted a picture for themselves, thats why some of them are looking at their own camera.

Mi parte favotira de la copa del mundo hasta ahora es haber tenido la oportunidad de conocer gente de todo el mundo. Personas de cada esquina del globo se han reunido en Russia para ser parte del evento deportivo mas grande en los últimos cuatro años.

Más de 44,000 Mexicanos han venido a Russia. A los Rusos les encantó la vibra Mexicana, nuestro ambiente de fiesta y la actitud despreocupada que emanamos como Mexicanos. Ganemos, empatemos o perdamos, los Mexicanos nos tomamos muy en serio la tarea de ser el alma de la fiesta mundialista en todas las calles de cada ciudad que visitamos y uno de nuestros emblemas, quizás el más popular y querido, es el sombrero.

Durante mi primer semana en Rusia, me arrepentí muchísimo de no haber traído un sombrero desde México porque me di cuenta que a TODA persona en las calles le llamaba la atención el sombrero colorido y todos querían una foto usándolo o querían una foto con el dueño del sombrero. Era como un imán para todo Mexicano que fue lo suficientemente inteligente como para traer uno desde casa. en especial un imán de chicas.

Algunos Mexicanos obtuvieron besos a cambio de una foto, otros más recibieron un número de celular y los más suertudos, concretaron una cita para cenar o unos tragos con una hermosa chica Rusa.

Hace una semana me encontraba navegando el grupo de Mexicanos en Rusia: Un grupo con más de 12,000 miembros Mexicanos que asistieron a la copa del mundo. Tuve la suerte de ser el primero en leer una publicación de alguien que ya se iba de Rusia y escribió: Ya me voy de regreso a México y mi sombrero no cabe en mi maleta, alguien me lo quiere comprar?

No lo pensé dos veces y le mande un mensaje directo a mi nuevo amigo y, después de verlo en una estación de metro intermedia e invertir 25 dólares, tuve en mis manos mi nuevo Sombrero Mexicano.

Decidí probar su magia al día siguiente y lo usé mientras caminaba por la calle "Nikolskaya", la calle más popular en Moscú para celebrar y conocer gente.

No toó mucho tiempo para que decidiera dejar de usar el sombrero porque que menos de una hora, más de 40 personas se me acercaron y me pidieron tomarse una foto conmigo, ya sea ellos usando el sombrero, en otras usándolo yo y en otras más intercambiando indumentaria.

Ya no lo tengo. Se lo regale a una chica Rusa, sin duda una de las chicas más hermosas que he conocido en mi vida y adivina que? Fui a cenar con ella hace unos días y la voy a volver a ver en un par de días. creo que encontré a una de las buenas. Los mantendré al tanto de eso.
