US lawmaker reveals that she has purchased cryptocurrencies
A publication of a financial medium recently revealed that the American congresswoman from Hawaii, Tusli Gabbard, bought about 1000 USD last year in Litecoin and Ethereum tokens, as reported by CoinDesk on August 22.
The news follows a financial disclosure report issued two weeks ago, where Gabbard revealed that he had acquired Litecoin and Ether cryptocurrency tokens worth more than $ 1,000 in December last year when the market started earning points.
So far I do not know the number of copies that you bought but the financial document indicates that the holdings for each cryptocurrency fluctuate between the 1,001 and 15,000 USD in the category of "assets and unearned income".
According to CoinDesk, both Ethereum and Litecoin also appeared in the "Transactions" category, confirming that they purchased the tokens on December 12, 2017, at which time Litecoin had a value of USD 323 per token and Ethereum USD 650 according to the indices. of price of CoinMarketCap.
Now, according to recent data, it seems that the legislator has not seen higher profits from that purchase. At the time of writing, Litecoin and Ethereum have a value of 56 and 275 USD.
In fact, she herself pointed out that the capital gains obtained were not greater than $ 200 in any of the tokens.
She joins the Representative of Virginia Robert Goodlatte who also owns cryptocurrencies, and revealed in a similar presentation that she had bought Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum. In his presentation, Goodlatte stated that he bought between $ 1,001 and 15,000 in BCH and Ethereum of Bitcoin and more than 15,000 USD in BTC.
Actually the document did not specify if Goodlatte had bought cryptocurrencies with the sole intention of making a profit in the future, and this is one of the approaches that causes more curiosity. Anyone would imagine that a political figure of that caliber would be advised before investing in an emerging market, even several experts foresaw the fall when prices began to rise exponentially.
In any case, if this is the case or not, we do not know, but what is certain is that it is encouraging that a legislator has cryptocurrencies under his belt.
