Boosting bots that boost my ego
There's not too much discussions floating in my feed lately about bid bots so I thought why not I start one. I am not going to wrap out every layer of the topic like an onion and turn bid bots upside down or accuse anyone of being like this or like that for using them. It's a free market and a decentralized blogging platform so everyone is free to do whatever it feels like with his/her page, posts and wallet.
There is though some strange thing that I've noticed today. It's probably happening for quite a lot of time, as much things do, that I am not aware of, but this really amazed me. So let's cut to the chase. I've been asking and answering questions for a couple of days on musing.io and I've been amazed on how much are some of the answers upvoted and thought to myself wow this is a gold mine for upvotes, so, I checked even further into its layers.
Read the comments of the users and convinced myself that yeah the answers are detailed, very well written and of course "informative". It was too good to be true though so I went even further and followed some of the users spending time over there and spy on them. Yes, I was looking in their wallets and that's why I considered myself a spy. I usually don't like that, but I do it from time to time. So what do you know?
One of them was using bid bots to upvote his won comments. Now, you get some upvotes from musing also for your questions and answers, but they aren't of about 20-30 Steem in value per post so there's something blinking when you see "that much" love on one comment. Now the bots used by that guy weren't the well know ones like rocky, buildawhale and others. There were some names that don't tell anything about them but will love you for your Steem even in your comments. Why would the guy promote even his comments is way out of my understanding and business, but it did make me think.
It made me think when one user that consistently uses bid bots feels like he's had enough of them? How do you know you have enough reputation, enough SP and enough followers to simply let them go?... It's probably that I will never fully understand that but I am still curios. Although I have left such services behind months ago I am still curious about them when I discover new things and techniques like this one, but haven't got to hate them during the time. I kinda see them in some cases as a form of advertising but in others just as a waste of money. Depends on what one user is using them and how much of an impact does one post has on the community after boosting it.
If you have any thoughts on the topic feel free to share them. There's no one to judge anyone in here. We have freedom of speech on Steem, remember? You can even boost the comments, I wont mind. By the way, not to forget that some of the questions on which that user boosted his comments that I was talking about were mine also, so I'm feeling kind of smart, now that I saw someone boosting his comments on my topics. So it's like he's boosted my ego also by spending his Steem on these answers.
Don't forget it's Saturday so expect some weekend price manipulations in the crypto market. Bots live everywhere nowadays.
Thanks for your attention,
Ace
