How to find a product

After finishing the preparations the hunt for good selling products can finally start. It’s somehow like digging for gold. You need basic know-how, tools and a piece of luck 😊

Brainstorm

Use your intuition. What do you need in your life and what would you buy. What would be worth your money? Think for yourself and ask others.

Use the Internet and research for trends or products which are selling at any time of the year for a long time. Go to your local shops and find products which are sold there. Find some other ways to get the information you need.

Brainstorm, brainstorm, and brainstorm again!

After your list is full of product ideas you have to search for them on Amazon. But before the data can be analyzed, you have to install JungleScout as a plugin or extension to your internet browser.

In the screenshot above you can see JungleScout in action. To show you how the work here is done I searched for „ball“. The important fields are:

  • Price
    It is nice when the average price is about 15$.

  • Sales
    Here you can see how often each product was sold monthly (!).

  • Revenue
    The monthly income for each product is shown here.

  • Reviews
    The reviews which were given by buyers to this product. This time not monthly.

  • Rating
    The rating from one star to five stars. Not monthly again.

Now the analytical part. For the start, I would recommend you a product which is small and not heavy. It should be simple. Better not choosing an electronic device, chemicals, food, medicine.

Sales should be high. Revenue as well. You want to make money, right?

Let’s get to the revenue field. It is very important that the other shops don’t have that many revenues. It would be much harder to compete with them. So choose products with a low amount of revenues.

Then, if the rating is not that good from the other shops you can take your chance and be better. Watch the complaints from your concurrence and do not make the same mistakes.
