I noticed you didn't include a hosting platform, like host gator? Just having a domain isn't enough, right? Don't you need a hosting site as well? Do you use Facebook for marketing or create ads on Google or some other site? What kind of volume are you running?
Hey there @randomness! Great questions! I left out the part about hosting because to get set up as directed, Shopify is actually your host. You only need the domain name, then when you grab your Shopify account, you plug in your domain name, and they host :) That's why this is such a cool model, because it truly is very low overhead!
We do FB Ads to build brand awareness, and we are not running any ads to the t-shirt shop because this is not our main business... Just swag for our community. Our main business is knowledge commerce.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't realize Shopify was set up that way! It definitely does take out a large part of the overhead cost.
Building a brand is important for sure, so I can see how the FB ads will help there even if you aren't selling anything (though selling to a captive audience is a nice way to go as well).
