Is diversity good for business?

Ideology masquerading as science.

Among the most egregious examples is the stupid idea that "diversity is good for business". Studies proliferate purporting to show this. Cue confirmation bias.

Think about it. It makes no sense. “Diversity” is not a factor of production. It is not even clear what it means. The context is implicit from the ideological backdrop – an aspect of the Woke religion. It implies racial, ethnic, cultural “diversity”. Why, in itself, should that have any affect on productivity and profits. It doesn’t. It cannot. To enhance the PR profile of the business may be a consideration, but not if it adds substantial production cost.

In some specific situations, like catering to a particular cultural client/customer group, it may make business sense to match the workers to the cliental in order to improve responsiveness. The knowledge base of the producer is enhanced by this “diversity” in a productive way. But, it depends crucially on the specifics, on what kind of worker knowledge is necessary for particular situations. The idea, and the propaganda, that “diversity” is a productivity enhancing phenomenon that somehow American business has overlooked, is patronizing, stupid and basically untrue. Who exactly do these “diversity justice warriors” think they are? They are not only morally superior, they are also super prescient in knowing how the businesses they are preaching to can better spend their money.

Clearly they don’t understand how market competition actually works. Just another frustrating aspect of the upside down situation in which we find ourselves today.
