According to Bloomberg, Beijing December 15 reported that in China, after defeat Apple, China's top smart phone maker plans to Apple's home base - the United States - to challenge the iPhone maker.
According to people familiar with the situation, millet companies and Huawei are negotiating with U.S. wireless operators to sell their flagship smartphones to American consumers as soon as next year. U.S. carriers that are negotiating between the two handset makers include AT & T and Verizon Communications. Negotiations are still ongoing and may not reach an agreement.
Apple's leadership in the U.S. smartphone market is in jeopardy. Over the years, Apple has been kept away from fierce competition for its strong support from carriers. Operators used to subsidize expensive iPhones and reduced user prepayments. However, as operators switch to two-year installment sales models, these subsidies and discounts are gone.
Apple is currently the dominant player in the US smartphone market
Huawei is already trying to sell the Mate 9 flagship in the United States through Amazon e-commerce sites, but working directly with wireless carriers can make it more influential in the United States through retail stores, carrier websites and TV commercials. People familiar with the matter said Huawei is in the process of negotiating the sale of flagship aircraft with U.S. carriers but also plans to sell Mate 10 through its e-commerce channel.
Wang Xiang, senior vice president of millet, said the company is trying to launch smartphones in the United States within two years, but it will take time to finalize the network specifications with each operator. He said Xiaomi is also considering opening retail stores in the United States to build brands, sell fitness bracelets, thermostats and vacuum cleaners before launching mobile phones. Millet fitness bracelet and other products currently in the United States for online sales.
Currently, the U.S. smartphone market is dominated by Apple and Samsung Electronics. With most handsets in the United States being sold through carriers, handset makers are almost no way to gain significant market share without the support of AT & T or Verizon. AT & T and Verizon are the top two carriers in the United States.
Huawei, AT & T and Verizon declined to comment. (Compile / flu rain)
