You make some very pertinent points, it takes hard work but does pay off, and I certainly have some emails that arrive and I open immediately simply because the sender spent the time to develop a relationship. The biggest challenge however is before this stage, namely getting the first email opened and read.

I agree @scarletpimpernel , getting first email opened is major challenge. For that the content of the email should be well crafted.
