Trade secret or as increasingly difficult to keep information

How often do we have to hear on commercial secrets of the companies? Yes, it may have left you out, but in the modern business world, problems of protecting confidential information are gaining new dimensions.

News about leaks and whistle-blower, disclosure closed the financial statements, the loss of user passwords of known services, and even the recent news of the theft of data about HBO series "Game of thrones", which require about 2000 bitcoin ($6 million). To speculate a trade secret is becoming more profitable.

Many of us who have ever encountered with work in commercial structures will not protect the confidentiality of the information. Often companies set up extensive lists of types of information, value and knowledge which can affect their profits or losses, give some benefit to competitors. Sometimes of course that's just tool for raising to a new level of "self-importance" Manager or company as a whole.

Strange but true that all large companies (with employees whom I often come into contact) normal - to discuss not only wages, but many of the intricacies/details of the work itself, but confidential information, in most cases, pass its the same people (often not consciously).

If to address to Analytics, the world practice shows that the cause of leakage in 70% of cases is external attacker, but more often it is exactly the opposite. While the majority of the threats come from regular employees (not managers or IT specialists).

Funny, but I have repeatedly faced with the "businesses" who were out the entire inside of the competitors - "controlling their trash," or ideally, "cleaner" :) But seriously, of course as such protection of information in fact is not in the most part of our business.

Sometimes the problems visible on the surface when there are competitors with the biometrics system, the so-called secure digital perimeter data (monitored all activity equipment, disabled ports, etc.). In this NOBODY controls the banal printout! Don't tell me about AT which change in slope, font, etc., and then the security service will work :)

By the way, recently learned that the cost of "breaking in from the outside" has decreased significantly (at times). Mainly due to the mass use of personal email to forward operating data, open Wi-Fi networks and devices is not intended to protect information (including legacy hardware and SOFTWARE).

I think often the cost effective protection of information may not cost themselves protected data, so most and not spend time on it. However, sometimes it is better to think of it, how much would you be willing to pay for relevant information (and possible loss). The answer will put everything in its place.

I remember a pretty well-known idea that the more profitable the business, the more it mysteries and secrets (which need to be protected from all forces)!
