As a business owner, enterpreneur or a leader of a team, it's proven that kindness could be your competitive advantage.
Contrary to what some people think, that kindness makes you appear weak or give you other the chance to take advantage of you. Kindness is the right thing to do, as it helps you create deeper relationships and can lead you to be more efficient in your project and increase in sales in your business. Kindness serves as a ticket to help achieve all this.
How Kindness can give you the Competitive edge and positively transform your Workplace
1. Kindness Increases Sales
Small act of kindness in business really goes a long way. Ever ordered for a coffee in a coffee shop and you forgot to tell the cashier to add milk or syrup? After the cashier know this, he then gifts you the milk or syrup without charging you extra?. That's Kindness. That alone can make you stick with that coffee shop.
Doing things extra by showing kindness to your customer when they least expect it, strengthens the trust and pleasure they have for you. Companies such as Startbucks, Nordstrom has benefited greatly and financially through this act. This act also added more loyal customers to their business.
2. Kindness Motivates Employees
Leaders who show kindness and warmth to employees tend to be more likable and effective compared to one who doesn't. Having low warmth can make you less effective as a leader and reduce your chances to about 1-in-2000. Pretty low right?
There are certain actions that increases the likability score of a leader. They include:
-Showing consistent integrity
- Been more cooperative with others rather than been competitive
- Inspiring people around you
- Communicating your vision
- Making efforts to change when you ask for feedback and;
- Strengthening deep positive emotional connections with people

Creativity brings about innovation, infact it is the cornerstone. Research has it that, as a leader, creativity is increased when you engage respectfully with people and your team. Engagement brings about positive and social network, better processing info and a higher sense of work. This then eventually increase and boost your creativity.
4. Kindness Reduces Attrition
Some people no matter the pay, won't accept a role that require them to work with a manager or boss they won't get along with. People enjoy having a good relationship with people around them. Money to people is the 6th factor to consider when staying at a current job.
People feel loved when they feel the impact by their boss, teammate or company, especially in times when they fall ill, lose a love one or when they celebrate life( like birthday, wedding or birth of a child). Kindness makes people stay.
