Narratives Are Nothing Without Capital To FollowsteemCreated with Sketch.

Climate change, is there any other topic that has more lip service? If only what that mouth do was worth paying for yet billions get thrown at people claiming to be making positive changes to the climate, especially when it comes to governments and politicians.

Who would have thought people who spew garbage out their mouths from the landfill that is their brains would not be good at any recycling plan or way to move to sustainable practices.

Just like CEOs of today, it's not about the outcome, the product, the earnings it's all about the story if you have a good story you can keep throwing money at it and eventually it will come true. The fiat fairy godmother will make it true if we all wish it hard enough.

But as much as we want to click our stripper heels three times, Kansas will be going bye-bye along with the rest of the world if you keep following the narrative. The narrative is yeah we're banning straws and plastic bags and switching to whatever the fuck will be the fashionable replacement that's just another milk job of the consumer who feels compelled to be more "environmentally conscious".

Making an indifference

Yes, your Tesla and your Nike shoes made from recycled plastics are great but are you making a difference? We as humans can't resist a good bias which is why our perceptions are warped. I'm biased, you're biased we're all biased, but also we all love Ice cream, or scream for Ice cream rather. We all think because we've switched to something its problem solved time yeah us. All I did was do exactly what I always did, just getting it from another service provider.

So as a middle-class moron I'm now spending my money on a company who is making a difference but will eventually get sold to Shell or some oil company because fuckit, gotta diversify that portfolio.

I used this image for its shock appeal, shocking!

Plastic promises

All the talk of getting emissions down and reducing plastics is all talk, and while consumers try to make small changes, the big petro companies are ramping up to dump plastic on us like never before. As these companies have invested $200 billion in plastic projects since 2010 and to think it's going to slow down any time soon is wishful thinking.

As long as the fake money keeps rolling in, we will continue to promote malinvestment that slowly ends up killing us all.

Micro problems

Plastics are everywhere, and the ones you see in your neighbourhood and the pacific garbage patch may seem awful. The straws and beer holders killing turtles is horrible, but microplastics are far more dangerous. As plastics break down they become smaller and smaller parts; animals eat it it's in the rain, the water all that shit. The average human now eats about 50 000 pieces of microplastic a year while also breathing in a similar amount, along with all its lovely carcinogenic properties.

Man-made ending

I have a bit of a wacky theory I'd like to put forward. We're often told that plastic and crude oils and synthetics are "man-made" as if we're able to pull shit out another dimension and manifest it here. All we're doing is manipulating carbons and atoms already here into a useless piece of single-use plastic that doesn't have a natural decomposer yet.

When I drop off a satisfying stool, there are some other creatures thinking jackpot, and they're all over that as fans of influencer are over likes on their latest post. Plastic doesn't have that, and it will continue to slowly kill anything that cannot eventually adapt to be able to break it down into simple atoms that can then be recycled into another some or other thing.

So the way I see it is we're slowly rebooting the earth and once the plastic kills all the ones that develop some mechanism to break it down survive and well done to those who do!

You're the real MVP's.

If we're slowly wiping ourselves out, who's to say it's not an improvement for the world?

Have your say

What do you good people of steem think?

Holla at me in the comments! All my commenters I will now refer to as Jessie. Jessie is a good friend of mine, but Jessies got a girl, and I want to make her mine.

This guy has a lot of great videos on the topic and how it’s a scam. James Corbett. I’ve come to really like his content, he’s thorough and not sensational and thoroughly cites all his stuff. He’s got 14 years worth of material and videos, I’ve only gone back to 2018 so far lol

It's all a mind trick like Paris gets bombed oh let's change our profile pics, say something positive and create a hashtag okay guys we've done our part, now I can go on doing exactly what I did before. People see thinking they're doing something as doing something

Too true lol

Every drinking bottle and can yields me 10 Cents, my Provincial government had long established a deposit system as an incentive for the public to return the containers to specified Recycling depots. On my daily commute I find plenty of unclaimed containers as many commuters are so lazy or indifferent they do not bother even putting them in designated recycling bins located along the commuter network.
Unclaimed they go unsorted into a landfill and the Govt keeps the deposit as General Revenue.
I am a Part-time Freelance Binner intercepting recyclable and refundable unclaimed containers right off the top of the Garbage receptacles but refuse to dive into dumpsters and just for the easy pickings.
There are many other people that do this daily, full time all year round, some daring to actually dive into a dumpster.
It's Off-the-Grid Income as the depots pay in cash.
I feel good doing more than my fair share and get paid for it.
My 2020 Income so far... almost $140.
And I buy some of my Silver Bullion with that, and take out Pizza dinner treat for my kid's about once a month.

Legit, no such programs here in Malaysia one of if not the largest contributor to plastic refuse..

The mentality is the trashiest aspect as its a common practice to litter at every opportunity...

In fact I'll take a walkabout say 2km round trip from my upper middle class guarded community and make a steem post to display the abundance of shitheads that dwell here..

Same here, we often joke that the national flower of South Africa is the plastic bag!

My dad owns a recycling company they do mostly glass and plastic, lol our house was filled with it growing up, all the family and neighbours would drop their shit there. We don't have any formal programs so people shit sort of live in their own shit because they couldn't care less and waiting for the government or someone to do it.

I think having programs like this is important because over generations it becomes a habit regardless of the money it brings in and once its socially widespread it has a compound effect.

I always say if everyone keeps their shit clean we won't need cleaners, allas!

Well when you put it like that, I might as well start eating plastics and hope my kids are born with natural defence against it. Gotta stay ahead of the pack 🤝

LOL this is my favourite comment of today! For real i'm with you, if a piece of rubber covering your penis can protect you from disease why can't plastic in my digestive system and lungs not protect me too?

Fantastic work and I second all of it!!

Hey, maybe being 10% plastic will save us from the poisonous sunshine in the very near future.. Life finds away, everyone needs to just chill the fuck out and stop with the sky is falling drama..

I'm not saying be a trashy idiot just try to live a balanced sustainable life.. Plant some damn veggies, eat them, poop them out.. If you don't have land get creative and organize with like minded people..

I'm damn tired of the research shows bullshit.. It shows what the fuck those funding the projects want, that's all.. Carry on ass wipes!!

LOl! Let’s see if the human Brain is smart enough to figure out how to deal with eating and breathing in plastic and all the new shit trying to kill us, all natural selection

To think we have Devine right to live and the planet is ridiculous and these peeps with the let’s go green are all just another savior complex!

Like you said it’s about individual habits and taking back control and responsibility for your impact if you’re not going to do that, what’s the point?

But let’s wait for all these green companies to “save” us until the next “problem” arrives that they need money for and need to act quickly or we all going to die as if we already didn’t sign that contact

Oh the fuckery is magnificent!! I got a, few things off my dome that green peeps can't possibly live without..

Drumroll please

1.Roofing! Petroleum is an absolute must have to properly seal an even semi permanent structure that has electricity...

  1. Where the rubber meets the road.. That's right all you push bike heroes and bus riders, tires make the world go round...

  2. Oh so you're a walker and swore off combustion engines and push bikes ? Hand in your shoes!

The rabbit hole of reducing emissions is endless and goes right to your asshole as farts also contribute to climate change.. The only alternative that really works is mass suicide 😂 You sip your poison kool-aid first!

I've edited this so many times but it just won't take..

Lol yeah once you start to see out the argument to its entirety it's basically genocide/suicide. So we opt for the slow death instead!
