Mark Cuban- College Years
Undergrad: Business
Cuban enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh where he was a very active student. Cuban was a member of the phi lambda phi fraternity, a bar tender, and a party promoter.
Cuban's life in Pittsburgh was short-lived however, as he quickly transferred out after his first year to Indiana University where was a business major at the Kelley School of Business. Cuban made the switch because it was the cheapest business school in the top 10.
During his time at IU he set up a chain eltter to pay for his semester, he also offered dance lessons to campus sorority member for $25 an hour. Cuban also pursued one of his first major ventures at IU. Cuban purchased a local bar which he renamed to Motley's. Motley's quickly became one of the most popular bars in town but it was shut down after the bar held a wet T-shirt contest.
Later in life Cuban discussed his thoughts on education. He said, "I personally think there's going to be a greater demand in 10 years for liberal arts majors than there were for programming majors and maybe even engineering, because when the data is all being spit out for you, options are being spit out for you, you need a different perspective in order to have a different view of the data. And so having someone who is more a freer thinker.
Cuban later donated $5 million to Indiana University.
