Good day beautiful ladies and gentlemen. Meeting you with sound minds and good health is always my desire. You are warmly welcome to my page. Today's business activity can sometimes be tough and confusing especially when you lack the necessary information and direction. The business you are planning to do may be very simple through the help of government and its agencies, but sometimes getting to know this agencies and their functions may seems so difficult. In this publication, I will take you round Akwa Ibom State government ministries/agencies and also exploit its functions to enable you know the channels to contact and consult for your business proposal and approval.

Government is a body which make and control the laws of the Land and its resources. It can be monarchy or a democracy government etc. It functions is to provide all the necessary amenities to his subjects through Ministries and Agencies with the revenues and allocations generated from the natural resources of its region. The government dedicates her responsibilities to specified ministries to carryout government projects.

As mentioned earlier, the government be it State or Federal government dedicates her responsibilities to its Ministries and Agencies to carryout projects of the government. For the purpose of time, I will like to talk about the responsibilities of few ministries as highlighted below.

• Office of State Surveyor General
  This is a reliable agency of government that can deliver precise survey and geospatial data/ information to meet various users need.
  They also survey the sites for government and her agencies including private concerns.
  The agency Provide Base Data for land data base/land bank.
  They carriedout Survey of mining and Quarrying Licence and Leases, including the coordination of private survey practice.

• Ministry of Labour, productivity and manpower planning is responsible for the administration of labour, it includes the formulation, preparation, organisation, monitoring and implementation. It handle all employment generation, labour protection and industry peace and harmony.

• Ministry of transport is in charge of all the transport business in the state, both for the government and private, for instance if you buy Keke or a bus and you want it to be use for commercial activities, you need to go and register it with the ministry of transport and obtain operations permit papers to enable you to do your business freely.

• Ministry of environment and town planning This ministry help you with the information to acquire land and other properties which are free not of the government. For instance you want to venture into a dredging business, you must obtain an approval from the ministry of environment to operate.

• Ministry of Youth and Sports help you to register your sport activities with the government and also take charge of all sport activities in the state both government and private.

• Bureau of public procurement create a synergy between the different existing policies in government and enhance public procurement to promote integrity, accountability and transparency in the procurement which follows the laydown prices in all facets.

• Ministry of works and fire service help to setup infrastructure that meet the British standard, you can also apply for a contract of construction of any kind through the ministry of works. If you want to operate on fire service business as a private firm, you need to apply through the ministry of works for approval. Ministry of works also have the laboratory that you can carry out all types of chemical test, including diesel, kerosine, petrol, water etc.

• Ministry of Education. In this ministry all related educational issues are being handled. Before you open a private school , you need to register with the ministry and get approval for operation.

• Ministry of Science and Technology is a very good ministry that welcome all kind of ideas in science and technological development. If you know how to produce anything, go to the ministry they will support you brings your ideas to a reality.

Just work into their general office, meet with the secretary and discuss what ever challenges you have, definitely you will surely get encouragement support.
