The Importance Of Religion In The Growth Of A Child
Many parents assume that raising kids with some measures of religion is the best way to teach children how to behave ethically- both when they are young and eventually grow into adulthood. At the same time,in some societies, the role of religious living has increasingly diminished and kids/young adults are becoming increasingly secular.
According to research: Worldwide, the total number of religious unaffiliated people ( which includes: atheists, agnostics, and those who do not identify with religion in particular) is expected to rise from 1.7billion in 2015 to 1.20billion in 2060. In the United States, about a quarter of the population identifies as religiously unaffiliated today are up to 16%. In 2017, 53% of adults describes themselves as having no religious affiliation.
The potential benefits associated with personal religiousness have been well documented. It includes: less drugs, lower rates of depression and suicide, better sleep quality and lastly, greater hopefulness and life satisfaction...Personal religious beliefs and practice acts as a buffer against stress and negative effects of trauma among the first and second immigrant youths and reduced the rate of depression among that population.
Another fact to weigh when it comes to religion is how it affects family dynamics. Religious institution also have formal support system for families especially those in need, and the activities organised by these institutions offers families a chance to bond and spend time together.
In conclusion: as a result of all these, bringing up a child in a religious way or in belief of ones religion could be done in a way as per how the parents wants their wards to be in future.
