What is @buildawhale and our Terms of Service

What is @buildawhale

@buildawhale was founded to offer promotion services to Steem users to promote quality content produced by Steem users.

My goal was to allow users to gain exposure and followers by getting the attention of others not create a cash machine where you put $10 in and get $20 out regardless of what you submit.

Curation Digest

The way I tried to do this is to reward quality content with our daily Curation Digest where we look through all the posts submitted to our service and choose our five favorite posts to feature daily.

Being featured in our Curation Digest has a proven effect of increased organic votes, increased followers, and more engagement. It also allows us to introduce users to new authors they may never heard of.

Spam Prevention

When I first started @buildawhale, I wanted to offer the ability to promote quality content and not reward low effort and stolen content.

In the past, I frequently submitted authors who plagiarized to https://steemcleaners.org/abuse-report/ anonymously and in private to @patrice.

Bid Bots are continously blamed for the amount of spam and garbage being rewarded on this platform. There is endless amount of stolen and low effort content being highly rewarded without the use of bid bots and I spend a lot of time proactively identifying and shutting down spam and plagiarism.

In multiple cases I have spent 5-10 hours to uncover all the accounts tied to one user spamming across multiple accounts regardless if they take advantage of my service, another service, delegation, or private Steem power.

This activity is unrewarded and counter productive to running a promotion service as spammers are the best customers a bid bot can have. When was the last time you heard of a bid bot ban a spammer?

Blacklist

If you haven't heard of our blacklist you haven't been paying attention.

As I said above, I put countless hours into identifying and preventing rewards on plagiarism, spam, scams, abuse, and fraud. This is an endless, thankless, and unrewarding job, in fact it costs me money as my service makes less than bots who don't blacklist users.

You can see our current blacklist with over 1,000 users I have personally identified and verifed by hand.

Prevote Club

@buildawhale has a prevote club that offers additional votes to users who use our service. We currently have around 40-50 accounts in the Prevote club offering guaranteed curation rewards to members and additional value to our users.

Terms of Service

We have not posted our terms of service in some time as Steem has no good way to pin posts or have a more detailed description available without searching through hundreds of posts.

Our terms of use are simple.

  • We will not reward plagiarism, and if found plagarising you will be blacklisted and potentially lose your vote.

  • If you are caught spamming, you will be blacklisted and potentially lose your votes.

  • If you are caught scamming or committing fraud, you will be blacklisted and potentially lose your votes.

  • If you are blacklisted, you will not receive a refund.

  • If there was a mistake on our part and you have been blacklisted, we will refund and make things right.

  • If you have a question about our service, blacklist, or want to report abuse please reach us on Discord and do not post comments on our posts or @themarkymark's posts.

Bid bots were very useful for the exposure esp to the minnows who have worth reading articles but some or may I say many users also were abusing this opportunity. This move of @buildawhale will somehow filter the abusive ones and blacklisted them. Thumbs up!

Too bad the other 90% of bots don't give a shit.

thanks @buildawhale for your great support

We need few more bid bots like @buildawhale !

Buildwhale is a great project i thought

It's a great service. Thank you.

Wow this is amazing. Yes, this will really reduce the rate of plagiarism here. Wow I love this.😊😊😊😊
Weldone boss @buildawhale You sure are doing an amazing work here

@themarkymark has one of my witness votes, so I really mean it when I say that I think he's doing more than most to fight spam and plagiarism.

However, even if all bots were run as well as @buildawhale, I'm not convinced the trending page would be any better. (I mean, it's not even the worst it's been at the moment, but it's not fantastic.) Does the organic advantage of being curated override the paying customers with plenty of money to spend? No, and it would ruin your business model if it did.

All that said, it would be great if everyone at least tried to do their part. And I don't want to hear anyone with a shitload of SP at their disposal (bot operators or not) whining about how it's not their responsibility. Guess what, if you have the capability to change something, then it is your responsibility, one way or the other.

Oh, trust me, it would be a lot BETTER. Maybe not good, but BETTER.

This is an endless, thankless, and unrewarding job,

Is there any process set up for people to rewarded for identifying plagiarists, spammers etc?

If people were incentivized to report accounts that were 'dodgy', self policing would become much more efficient.
(1sbd, or something - for highlighting accounts)

I spend a lot of time on steemit everyday, and would happily help search accounts - if it was not 'a thankless task', as you say.

A potentially profitable task would help persuade everyone chip in...

feel free to hire me! lol.

I like the idea of self policing, although it's hard to determine where the reward comes from, some neutral source that does not have its own agenda to promote. Maybe each account contributes to the pool to gain from it's benefit. Socialism?

https://steemcleaners.org/abuse-report/

There is the link for the form to fill out, if they find the abuse legit they give you a small stipend, I don't recall the amount, I tried to find the article where I read about it a couple weeks ago. I'll keep a eye out and see if I can find it but if you click on articles about abuse usually someone mentions it.

Setting aside some of the reward pool for abuse combating would require some kind of fork. Anything else would have to be organized organically, and the money would have to come from somewhere...

and then abuse reporting would be abused ;)

I think this is a great idea! I understand some of the concerns in the comments, but I also think they are seeing a symptom of the disease while you are treating the cause. I see where some could be concerned, but I see @themarkymark's work and know his mission. I believe this project will work in concert with his efforts will help pull weeds from the Steem garden so the juicy fruit can grow. It will attract the same people already using bot services, but anyone with half a heart or brain would hopefully opt for the better path and choose @buildawhale. Not only reducing the base of other bot users, buildawhale also promotes posts that deserve a good size upvote. I trust the team behind buildawhale to select worthy material because of their previous crusades. Hopefully these will be the posts in trending, not spammy adverts. Who knows, we need to do something about it, some decision is better than none, and this is certainly the best idea or step I've heard of yet. More power to you, thinking of joining myself! 😂👍

Plagiarism is in everywhere, in editing or in thinking. Morality only can prevent this. However, your support is great . And hope for keep up.
