Buildawhale Curation Digest HF1: 5/9/17
It is our pleasure to introduce two new Curators at @buildawhale, @ironshield and @lturner. Thank you, friends, for helping us Curate, acknowledge and appreciate the amazing original work on Steemit!
We look forward to more amazing curation from both of you in the future!
Cetylpyridinium Chloride, Toothpaste, and Mitochondria... Oh My!
at: https://steemit.com/science/@justtryme90/cetylpyridinium-chloride-toothpaste-and-mitochondria-oh-my
Author: @justtryme90
Curator: @lturner
This post is a summary of an in-depth research paper detailing an unforeseen effect a class of antibacterial compounds has on the mitochondria of certain cells.
Since the material being summarized is very technical, it was fascinating to read this excellently-written overview in order to grasp the point the original researchers were making.
If you're a fan of understanding the way things work, this post definitely has some food for thought regarding household items containing these antibacterial compounds.
I may be inspecting my toothpaste and hand lotion a little more closely now.

Author: @nikitinskiy
Curator: @lturner
This post is a fascinating photographic look at a retro car show in Russia.
If you've never seen antique Russian vehicles before, they are just as iconic and beautiful as some of their U.S. counterparts and the photographer chose some excellent angles and lighting to capture his subjects.
Definitely worth a look, especially if there's any antique auto enthusiasm in your blood.

How to make sweet curd in home

Curator: @bethalea
I love recipes, I won’t lie to you.
I’m not a ‘natural’ cook, if you can understand... I can’t just throw stuff in a pot and make it taste amazing. I know people who can, and I’m simply not one of them.
So when I come across a recipe for something different and amazing that I can make myself at home, I save it for later and try it as soon as possible!
I also had the chance to look through this author’s blog, and her posts are exactly what we should be talking about… she posts original, interesting content that more of us should pay attention to!
Thank you for your recipe, @head10, I’ve personally upvoted your post and followed for more interesting recipes!
Lao Tzu - Rockstar Philosopher.

Curator: @bethalea
This is a short, nicely written and informative piece with a lovely original photograph. I choose not to use the picture as I didn’t have permission, so you should go check it out. It’s gorgeous.
The post contemplates the Tao Te Ching, credited to author Lao Tzu, and the quote, “Sometimes gain comes from losing, and sometimes loss comes from gaining”.
I liked this post especially because you didn’t attempt to explain the quote to me, instead you reminded me of some history on the Tao Te Ching and then simply asked me to contemplate the phrase and what it means to me. Thank you for that, and thank you for your inspirational post!

Curator: @ironshield
@themarkymark gives us some insight into the perils of using crypto exchanges. Learn about one man's desperate attempt to retrieve his money from Poloniex and the extreme measures he was willing to do just for some assistance.
The lesson here: "If your crypto is in a wallet where you do not own the keys, you do not own the crypto. Get in, do what you need to do, and get out."
This is a lesson you don't want to learn the hard way.
due to @themarkymark’s involvement with @buildawhale, he will not be accepting the bonus whaleshares from our friend @akrid. He appreciates the Curation by @ironshield with much thanks!
Thank you again to our new curators, @ironshield and @lturner! Look for the Spanish translation by @dontstopmenow soon!
Much love from your Chief curators,
@bethalea and @nicnas
