How to make a Leather Backpack-Handbag.
Good morning Steemians, I made a leather backpack-handbag yesterday and would like tp share it here. Its is a bag that can contain a laptop comfortably and also books and otber documents. You can carry it like a backpack and also like a handbag.
MATERIALS NEEDED
- Leather of choice
- 4 pairs of magnets
- Adjuster
- Hooks
- Hooks rings.
PROCESS
Below I'll be giving a pictorial explanation of how i achieved this bag.
- First step is marking and cutting. I used the following measurements. For the main bag i used 36 by 12 inches. For the small hand i used 17 by 2 inches. For the long hand i used 45 by 2 inches. For the leather i fixed the magnet on, I used 15 by 2 inches. I cut 3 by 1 inches in 4 places ( leather is used for holding the rings that holds the hook). The last leather i cut was the covering leather which the measurement was 15 by 2 inches.
- I fixed the magnet on the 15 by 2 inches leather and stitch as shown below.
- I stitched the leather used for the small handle at the two sides.
- I repeated the process above for the two longer ropes ( 45 by 2 inches leather)
- Below are picture of the accessories i used.
- I fixed the hook to of end of the longer handle as seen below.
- The i stitched it.
- After which i fixed the second hook and adjuster as shown below and i stitched the side i held together in the picture.
- Below is a picture of the two longer handle.
- For the covering leather(15 by 2inches) I curved the edges as shown below.
- I located the middle 3 inches down and mark it with a pencil so it will guide me with the rest of my measurements. Then i marked 3inches from the middle both sides, apply a gum and fixed small hand of the bag as shown below. After which i stitched it together.
- I also did the same thing for the leather that will hold the hook rings.
- I stitched the edges of the leather all round.
- I stitched the magnet leather to the covering as shown below.
- I gumed the rings leather 1inch from the middle and stitch.
- For the leather at the side of the bag (15 by 4inches) i curved the down part of the leather as seen below and kept it somewhere first.
- Then i gummed the covering leather with the main bag leather and stitched them together.
- I gummed the hook leather together and attached it to the main bag leather as seen below.
- I stitched the leather side to the main bag leather as shown below.
- I fixed the other side of the magnet as shown below. After which i also fix a magnet to the top edge of the bag to hold it firm together.
FINAL LOOK OF THE BAG
