"SEC | S19W1: Designing lesson plans"
(Last place I taught. The headmaster and his wife with teachers)
- What material do you want to teach to students or to your child?
Learning material includes things like paper, pen or pencil, crayons and cardboard papers etc... Telling children to get them is necessary because they are going to be practicing what ever is been taught inside the paper. So learning tools are those things needed for the smooth running of the lecture.
(Inter-house sports in 2017)
- Explain how you would design the opening activities, core activities and closing activities in a learning material?
Opening activity for me matters alot because if you should start it with dullness, it will remain that way. So in opening your activity, I usually start with an exercise, you will see me telling the children to stand and seat down... Clap one, two, one, two and when they are fully vibing along I will say clap zero while others are saying zero is nothing others will be clapping and everybody will laugh. Engaging them in an activity is a good start before introducing your topic of the day and that's where core activity comes in. In closing activity ask them to stand up. Ask them questions concerning your lectures and tell them to ask you question. But then, be ready because they are going to be asking but relevant and non relevant. In summary, tell them to define what you must have taught them.
- What method will you use, explain why it is the most appropriate?
Like I mentioned earlier, i would use demonstration because I prefer it most and finally i will use question and answer to sum it up. Why I think is appropriate to use is because a child learns and understand faster when you demonstrate. And demonstration has its way of teaching a child something because where ever a child sees someone demonstrate that way she/he will definitely remember what a teacher taught. And it is of a good advantage to students. It is also important to use question and answer method because some might be carried away with the demonstration that when you ask them questions they will take you back from where the topic of the lesson started. So it is important to ask questions during teaching.
- What tools and media do you need so that learners can understand it well?
(My first drawing attempt, that was in 2017 when I finished secondary school)
Having had an experience in teaching primary school children, I believe they are still beginners. Unlike kindergarten, they learn through pictures and demonstration. So the materials needed is pen, paper, crayons for drawing, cardboard papers and of course the teacher must have a knowledge of drawing and must be good in drawing insects and some animals. Without this materials I guess the lesson plan is not complete. But in primary classes, I believe they have grown pass the age of using crayons but they can still make use of cardboard papers for crafting. Their teacher should be someone who is not dull, because at that stage the children needs someone who is agile, up and doing and someone who uses relevant examples to teacher. But be a serious teacher, teach and give instances if possible tell stories relating to what you are teaching even if they story doesn't exist, that will make the children understand the topic better. Though the world is digitalized where everything is now done with computers but a teacher who knows what he/she is doing still needs the aforementioned tools.
You are a great teacher it doesn'tmatter how long you've taught.
You are a star
Thank you very much ma'am
I remember i was once appointed to stay in primary 3 kids for a day. It took me just an hour to develop headache. Controlling them is not an easy task. It's clear you are good at that .
Wish you success
Thank you very. Though that class can give headache but trust me, they are fun when you engage them
