Brave Browser - Let's make it better!

My Background in Crypto

I have been following cryptocurrencies very recently. Although I got into this with the intention to make quick money, I must admit that the more I read, the more intriguing this whole sphere becomes. It's like a whole new paradigm opening up and people like me who are carefully following this space are getting a very real taste of where things could be headed for in the future. Regardless of whether the valuation for some of these currencies are justified or not, it is fairly interesting to look at what some of these projects are trying to achieve. One such project that caught my attention was the Basic Attention Token. I will not delve into deep what this token does, those interested can get a fair idea by visiting their website.
Disclosure: I do not own any BAT as of now, but I like it and I may put my money in it in the near future.

Adoption will be the Bottleneck

Adoption will be one of the biggest challenges for this project given that the only channel the BAT foundation is looking to have a presence in right now is the Web Browser. Furthermore, as smartphones get better at doing what was unimaginable without a desktop just a few years ago, the share of time spent by people on web browser has been steadily decreasing. However, the Web browser still remains one the places where people devote most of their attention (I am writing this post on a Brave browser) and hence it looks like a viable strategy for BAT. For Brave to be successful it will have to face the challenging task of converting users from their Chrome browsers to Brave browsers. This may have happened with many people in crypto-sphere as these people are very likely to be early adopters, but a normal person over the internet will only be willing to change is browsing experience if that provided by Brave is better than what Chrome does.

Things that could've been better

Okay so let's get down to how we can make Brave browser better -

1. Efficient Use of the Menu space

As seen in the screenshot, there's a lot space being wasted that could've been put to much better use.

2. Support for Important Websites

Here's an instance of something as basic as Google spreadsheet not working on the Brave browser. If the most used websites have even one such shortcoming, we can expect a big chunk of users to turn back to their original browsers.

3. Have a translate function!

This is a feature that I personally use a lot and it would be a tremendous value addition for those like me.

4. Volume control over tabs [This was added on Jan 27th]

People who play YouTube videos over multiple tabs would understand how important it is to identify in which tab the song is being played. Further if the video can be paused through the tab head, it would be a freaking awesome accomplishment.

Now, this is what I was talking about!

Conclusion

I will end this post here but will post more improvements as and when I come across them while using Brave.
I hope this helps someone from the Brave team with a few ideas on making the browser more awesome.

Edit 1 Jan 27: Volume control over tabs has been added.
