The Pink Business Snacks #3 - People Trust People over Brands

in #branding6 years ago (edited)

To measure is to know. I love to back up my work with numbers and facts 😍! ⠀

According to a Nielson Consumer Survey, only 33 percent of buyers trust messages from a brand, while 90 percent (!) trust messages from an individual they know 😱😱😱. ⠀

Let that sink in. That means that if you own a business, you have a much better chance of winning people's trust if you bond with them first as a human being.⠀

It’s not your product or service people buy. It’s your REPUTATION. Your BRAND people buy. ⠀

Have you thought about what exactly you’re selling?

those are interesting statistics. So for someone trying to build a brand (not in the personal sense) do you think that brands will have to start acting more as individuals in the way they engage with customers. Or does this mean that CEOs will have to serve a larger role in their duties as being the "face" of the business, in an Elon Musk kind of way. Or, does this just mean that marketers is better off using influencers to reach their targeted audience? Interested to hear your thougts.

Great remarks @elima ! Definitely, I think all of the above. Commercials won't do anymore to really REACH your audience, you have to fully engage with them. And this starts top-down, from the exec seats to the operations, showing involvement with the community, contributing in an impactful manner. And indeed, influencers do help targeting your audience, but what's easily just as critical is how the company gives their audience a stage for opinionating, how they respond to their customers' inputs, and how they act with regards to societal topics.
