Writing on Ray Dalio

I just want to begin outlining my ideas in more detail. Here’s some writing

Yesterday, I fairly listened to Ray Dalio at the suggestion of Eric Finch, an egomaniacal jokester who is constantly quipping about his own excellence and intelligence. I was hesitant to look more into Dalio due to those reasons. Over the last few months, Eric has toned down his joked (they are jokes, right?) and he sent me a specific video to watch, so I figured, “what the hell?” and decided to watch. Jokes aside-Eric (or Finchmaster as he likes to be called) is a smart guy with a good head on his shoulders; we just like fucking with each other. [is each other one or two words?]

Excitedly, I watched and listened as Dalio described what seemed to me like a micro-application of a concept (or perhaps more accurately-group of similar concepts) that he credits his immense successes to in his businesses. At Bridgewater, radical honesty and transparency are among the highest-held values. Past successes of a given employee are used in determining credibility for future decision making. This algorithmic accountability enables teams to collectively make optimal decisions based in reality rather than some arbitrary power structure in which subordinates must appease their higher-ups or risk their livelihood in their employment.

I need to do more research into how this process works in Bridgewater. I’d also love to see the history of how the idea was rolled out and perhaps any thing they tried that didn’t work well. With radical honesty and transparency at the core of the company, those examples shouldn’t be too difficult to find.
