Brahma is the largest breed if chicken. It is said they were imported from the ports of Shanghai, China; thus given the nickname “Shanghai” birds.

Dark brahma chicken
Light in color or a blend of white and black, these Brahma birds were first exported to England in December 1852. With the average weight of 18 pounds for cocks and 13 pounds for hens, these chicken can truly stand out when compared next to the most common (Gallus). Lastly, hens can lay large brown eggs weighing approximately 60 grams.
