Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregorsteemCreated with Sketch.

My dear steemers as I've been involved in martial arts for over than decade I will give you my opinion on styles of both fighter. Every one of them has some advantages and disadvantages from styles they do.floyd.jpg
The truth is there is big hype about that fight and people who don't have much knowledge about martial arts judge who is gonna win from what they saw in UFC. This is not MMA fight and Conor won't have advantage of kicking, grappling and klinching.
In mma rules there is no doubt who would win.20150707190342-connor-mcgregor-ufc-mma.jpeg

First of all If I just compare how prepared has to be a fighter in boxing and mma fight. In boxing more or less you need is aerobic condition. There is light movement all the time, jumping in and out with only punches....on the other hand MMA requires combination of aerobic and anaerobic condition because there we have takedowns, throws, fighting in clinch, defending on ground and executing submissions.
At this point I think Mayweather has an advantage because it takes thousands hours of training to recondition muscles. In such a short time(till 26th Aug) I think It's impossible.

Second many times when I talk to my friend we agree that It would be fare if they would wear 4oz MMA gloves. But we know McGregor is contender who wants to earn some money that in UFC never will, there are boxing rules and equipment. Professional boxers who competes in any class up to and including the welterweight division wear 8-oz. gloves during a match. MMA glove has less padding which means greater impact when boxing gloves absorb at least some of the power.ufc gloves.jpg

And we all now Conor is much bigger guy with more muscles and stronger punch.
gloves.jpg

There is also thruth about how muscles develope when training always with heavier gloves. Muscles develope differently. That my result in speed, endurance,....but we know that also all MMA fighters spare and train in boxing gloves so maybe here won't be much difference. There is 1-2inch in reach difference. Some say that this could surprise Conor.
There are also shoes. In MMA they fight bare footed in boxing they wear shoes. Therefore, there could be subtle effects of movement variations caused by the friction and the weight that may further affect Conor during the fight.

Third I believe Conor has chances in first 5 rounds. Here he can surprise Floyd with his heavy strikes but later on, he is gonna be on Floyd's playground. I have found some interesting numbers on Google.

In later rounds Conor has no chance of taking so much punches.

Fourth Floyd is used to cover with gloves. They allow fighters to more effectively block and and guard against punches. In boxing punches are allowed only in head and body. Therefore they do shoulder rolls and bobbing. Conor in not familiar with those techiques. MMA fighters must typically maintain a greater distance than boxers do because they must contend with a variety of potential offensive attacks like kicks and takedowns. This is likely one reason why some of the longer, loopier punches that tend to land in MMA are not typically effective or even detrimental in boxing.

Although I'm a big fan of Conor I hope he could win Floyd. If he will, we will see KO, there is no chance to win on points.

Please let me know your opinion!

Im all for Conor but think Floyd will wiN :)

how do you think fight will look? can you predict anythink? I saw few sparring from Conor. both fighters are defensice strikers....but in my opinion Floyd si gonna be more accurate

I have no idea. Floyd can evade much but Conor is super agressive. Cant wait.

I think only two options are possible. Or Floyd will dance around escaping every single attack and throw accurate punches or he ends in short fight and takes a shorter end:)

Ill go with your first option. We will just have to wait and see :)

Counting down till 26th of Oct;)

Yep 😊 make a post then so we can talk about it after

Count on me. I will💪💪💪👊👊👊

Thanks for your excellent contribution. I am a die-hard Conor fan, but also a little bit worried about the final outcome. At the same time, I'm not throwing in the towel in advance. Conor has an enormous confidence and self-belief and he genuinely believes he is going to win. He adores doubters and he literally sucks energy from them. Just go back through his career and check how many times he proved them wrong. He might surprise Floyd and all of us. This is fighting sport and sometimes it doesn't take much to end the match. Remember Aldo?

Yes he is master on different levels. First he beats you with his unique trash talk and forces you to fight because of hard feelings. All those lost a focus and lost the fight.
There is amazing power behind his punches, he is southpaw,...and his is an amazing athlete hungry for winning....and not to forget he can stand beating.
Anything can happen....

Exactly, Floyd should just watch out when the real verbal contest starts. He did face some serious trash talkers in the past, but nobody was even close to Conor. Floyd certainly has some inner demons and Conor will find them out! I can't wait - 57 days 6 hours and 5 mins as I write this.

Don't you think that maybe trash talking is just part of the game to make these stuff more appealing to the masses? Maybe it worked back in the old days, when it was new, but do you think fighters now pay any attention to this stuff?

Conor has an enormous confidence and self-belief and he genuinely believes he is going to win.

Again, I might just be a tad too cynical, but this just reminds me of how every time an artist releases an album, it's always their "best album to date". Given how much marketing is a part of everything today, I'd think it's part of boxing and MMA too. What is a fighter supposed to say? "I think I have a slightly above-average chance of winning the fight"? At any rate, being positive is a core part of being prepared psychologically for the fights, so they must believe they're going to win.

Oh absolutely, it's also a part of the game. It especially goes for Conor, he needs to pump those pay per view numbers as he is still nobody in the boxing world. Floyd doesn't have to do a lot on this front as he invested both time and money in building his personal brand. However, I'd not underestimate the effect when these talks go over certain limits. These guys are fighters with tremendous egos and therefore with a slightly lower threshold for aggressiveness than you and me (maybe, ha, ha). It can be devastating if someone clearly starts to mess with the other's head.

Oh I don't know if they got lower thresholds! First, they can be more easily sued when they're professionals. Second, they let out steam in the gym every day. Third, being around that kind of environment, there must be a lot of talk and advice over the years on how to control your aggression. So I think, because by definition they are more 'intelligently aggressive' than us, we're much more liable to do something stupid in that arena!

I've just read that Conor is already pushing Dana White for fighting Khabib in Russia. This is of course after the fight with Floyd. This describes his spirit and determination at its best. He is not concerned with Floyd at all...

Yeah that's a fight everyone wants to see!

Btw, what did you think about his Nate Diaz fights? The first one, Diaz won hands down, obviously. But the second one, I think the judges made the wrong decision! I think Diaz won that one too! And there was one round (maybe the second?), that, if it lasted a bit more, Diaz would've finished it.

But do I think Diaz is a better fighter overall? No. It's strange. But this is how I see it: Diaz is a fighter who will, let's say, lose half his fights. If Conor is pitted against the same fighters Diaz faces, Conor will win most of them. In that sense, Conor is a better fighter. However, that doesn't change the fact that I think Diaz will win against Conor, again and again probably, until Conor evolves and beats him. I guess Diaz possesses something that works especially well against Conor. And one of these somethings may actually be his boxing! Which is what worries me about the Floyd fight, since now that's a proper boxer.

It's rather late here, I hope I'm making sense!

Nice analysis!

I agree that it's either gonna be a KO in the early rounds for Connor, or else Floyd is gonna take it if it goes to the latter rounds.

Tnx man. There is more I could write about but I think I mentioned most crucial things on which we can be focused.
I really hope it won't be boring fight. That anyway can happen too. If Conor won't find answers for Floyd's fast and accurate attacks than it's gonna be game on point till last round.
Hope not. But If Conor wins we will see God walking on earth.
Conor is the most confident fighter ever....can you imagine him after winning Floyd?!?!??

Again, that might just be his public persona? Dunno. I know a person from Glasgow who met him personally, at a cafe or something, just randomly, and he sat and talked to him, and he said he looked like a humble and cool dude.

Edit: Probably a bar, now that I think of it, since it's Glasgow! :P

Yes, I believe you. He is master of strash talking. Beating down everyone with words making them fight with hard feelings then. Conor knows how to brake you mentally and physically.
He is a true champion.

And yes. He is humble. After every fight he was humble. He showed respect to every single fighter. Being cocky is just a part if game plan;)

Indeed. And also it's not just the trash talking, but the talking itself! How he strings words and sentences together! It's beautiful to listen to! The guy could easily be a writer in another life!

There was only Muhammad Ali who was also amazing. Yes Conor. I'm really all-in fan of him🤙🤙🤙

You can hate Conor but you have to respect what have he done for sports at all.
This one gonna be crazy, but of course here handicap goes to Mayweather!!

Quality post here!!!

Thanks.

I am big fan of Conor. He is a great guy, great sportsman....very intelligent and smart fighter. He has done for the sport like no one before.

I just wanted give objective opinion how is gonne be for him to fight under boxing rules.

Tnx!

Yeah me too. Basically since Conor is in UFC, i have followed fightings. UFC growth to huge in a last years.
So many good fights have seen with Conor and others.
Conor is best boxer in UFC for sure, but here game is gonna be way different. Of course gonna see some rounds, money, you know :)

Cheers, and keep doing.

Awesome analysis! I've been a huge fan of ultimate fighting and MMA in general since I've been about 10 years old ! Back when Ken Shamrock and the tank were da SHIT! Some of my favorite old-school fighters are Chuck Liddell iceman, Matt Hughes a country boy can survive. (Let's keep the Hughes family in our prayers during this time of crisis and pray that Matt experiences a full recovery Lord hear our prayer) and of course Rich ACE Franklin. I think your analysis and details are spot on if we're going to see Connor win it's going to be in the first five rounds do to a knock out. Floyd will probably win on points which is what I don't want to see. Connor does have super strong power and Floyd has had trouble with southpaws. Either way I think Connor McGregor deserves the pay day due to the fact that he's raising the pay for other fighters because of his notoriety. It's amazing how quick the flight date is approaching, and both fighters must be training super hard. You definitely know your stuff and I look forward to reading more of your blog !
