There's A New Champ (Teofimo lopez Vs. George Kambosos Jr.)
It feels like it was just a few short months ago (even though it was just over a year ago) that Teofimo Lopez deposed the pound for pound king Vasily Lomanchenko, and asserted himself as the new undisputed lightweight champion of the world. The boxing world was at his feet. He could now demand huge sums of money and pick and choose who his opponents would be. Guys who had previously avoided fighting him, where now begging to step in the ring with him. There were so many top guys he could have fought. Big fights with big paydays and more importantly, fighters who would help him leave a lasting legacy, but Teofimo fell into that habit, that trap, that so many of the stars do. He took an easier fight for less money. A fight that he would definitley win, or so he thought.
Enter George Kambosos Jr., A little known fighter from Australia who has been grafting in the background, away from all the bright lights and media attention, just waiting for his moment to shine, just waiting for his shot to show the boxing world what he is truly capable of. It's a real life rocky story. A underappreciated fighter who gets an unexpected shot at the champ and the title, but Kambosos took it one step further than Rocky, he beat the champ and took his title. No one gave Kambosos a chance, but he upset the boxing world.
All I can say, is well done and congratulations. I hope you have watched and learned from Teofimo's mistakes, don't go for the safe option, go for the big fight and the big money, because you might not get another chance. And don't ever underestimate an opponent.
