Men in womens olympics.
I've had trans friends since the 90s, make the effort to use preferred pronouns, want to leave what adults do with their own bodies up to them, and have never cared much about niche cultural issues surrounding the topic as long as kids ain't involved. I recognize being trans is a difficult thing, and that there's no reason to make things harder by being mean or even unemphatic.
But allowing someone with XY chromosomes to compete in women's boxing? This makes me feel absolutely J.K. Rowling. Anger isn't just justified, but it should be the intuitive, natural response of the just. This isn't swimming... it's not just unfair because of biology. This is dangerous, unethical madness. Women beating. I haven't felt affinity with cultural conservatives in so long there isn't even muscle memory left, but they're absolutely right in being outraged. Even if one were to make the case that someone with XY chromosomes should be allowed to beat up women for sport in front of crowds if everyone consents, that's not what women boxers signed up for when they trained for the Olympics.
