Are Bots the Easy Way Out?
The majority of users know how exciting it is when other users comment on their posts to stir up conversation. But then when you see the notification and click back to the post, you realize it's a generic comment left by a bot. Is this a good thing? Are the bots only beneficial to collect more currency? I personally don't believe bots can create STEEM power, just extra spam for steemit users. I'm not the most knowledgeable about the newest of steemit or deep technology terminology, but I don't think bots are beneficial. So I personally feel people use bots for a quick buck or more up votes. I think something has to be done with this because more spam-like posts are diluting quality posts that are beneficial for the steemit community.
This is just my opinion, I'd like to know yours!
Bots kill the social side of steemit
Exactly, it's just wasting good information and missed chances
Banning the bots is a lot more work then making them. For now all we can do is flag them so their spam is less noticeable and wait for many others to join steemit and hopefully drown the spam posts with sheer comments and discussions.
I just feel that content is washed away due to bots. Then limiting posts is difficult for others because they have so much information they want to share, however, since it may look more like spam than information, they have to refrain from posting. It's a shame.
There's nothing more demoralizing then leaving a comment below a wall of spam comprised of 'welcome@user!' and 'here's a list of shit u won't need here'.
Why can't the comment spam be solved with captcha?
I'm not familiar with captcha but exactly, I think steemit needs a system to dissolve spam posts or complete delete them. Once something like this is created, it will be ultimately for everyone's gain.
I was hook winked by wang.... Like Tom fooled me when he sent me my first MYspace friend request..... It's a little disappointing that new users first posts get the cold botty treatment. I actually wrote an article about wang. his links and instruction are helpful..... it's better then the bot that show up and leave a two worded note and an upvote...
here's a link to my perspective on wang

Kajal, here's the official link of the latest update. It talks about what you mentioned in one of your comments. Spam and posting about 4 times a day to ensure and guarantee maximum rewards. https://steemit.com/steem/@steemitblog/steem-version-0-12-0-released .
Also, yeah what you said about users having a lot of information is true. I feel it's a tough job for the Steemit group because now you have genuine people who have a lot of content to share vs. people who consciously spam. I've actually written a couple of posts on bots.
dantheman actually posted this recently as one of the fixes for bots. You can read it here https://steemit.com/steemit/@dantheman/notice-to-bot-spammers
Hopefully all this, will be fixed. Steemit is still in beta so we're still evolving with updates for the better. So we hope for the best :)
