Starting The Year With A Bang! January 2020 - Monthly #WrapUp
Due to my extended holiday in Gordon's Bay, I ended up with a lot more reading time than usual.
I took four books with me (my current read, another for reading & 2 for photos) and I ended up buying a book, Sorcery Of Thorns, at a second-hand shop - I ended up reading all of them before I got back.
This threw my chosen TBR out the window, so I ended up reading the two remaining books from my TBR as well in order to play catch up!
Soulbinder by Sebastien de Castell
The Spellslinger series, as I've mentioned before, has become one of my favourite series ever!
Great, original story; fantastic character growth; fast-paced; action-packed; fabulous characters... the list just goes on for this magnificent series!
If you haven't read this series yet, what are you waiting for?

Perfect Ten by L Philips
Oh, my word; this is seriously the cutest thing I ever read - like ever!
Have you ever been so desperately lonely that you would do almost anything for love? Even going so far as to try a harmless little magic spell?
Sam Raines would do anything, including writing a list of ten traits he'd like in a boyfriend, in Latin, which he ritually burns in a cemetery at midnight... What could possibly go wrong?
This contemporary m/m romance is a humorous, and often serious, look on young love, High School, best friends, relationships and sex. Thoroughly enjoyable, through and through. Looking forward to more!

Floodworld by Tom Huddleston
Many thanks to Jonathan Ball Publishers for gifting me a review copy!
In a dystopian world, of a future that seems very possible, the world has drowned and only small portions of land remain. Most of London is now underwater and only a wall separates the sea from swallowing the city entirely - here, it's every man for himself...
Kara and Joe live in the slums and all they want to do is earn a little money for food and a little to put away so they can go to Canada someday, but they get dragged into a web of deceit and uncover a plot to destroy the city.
Fans of Star Wars may be familiar with Tom's work but, since I'm not a Star Wars fan myself, he is a new author for me and I thoroughly enjoyed this book; so looking forward to the sequel, Dustroad, coming soon.
I thoroughly enjoyed this fast-paced middle-grade action-adventure and I literally had to slow myself down from gobbling it up in one sitting.

Cold Storage by David Koepp
My review for this creepy, fast-paced thriller will be up shortly - keep an eye on this space!

The Weird Friends' Fan Club by Catherine Wilkins
Many thanks to Jonathan Ball Publishers for gifting me a review copy!
The love of Charlotte Brontë brings two completely opposite high school girls together as they explore their love for #Writing in a new creative writing club formed by their English teacher.
Erin is the typical unpopular girl, the one everyone picks on; Grace is #Blessed and the most popular girl at school - both have a few life lessons to learn. (Ha! Alliteration!)
Catherine Wilkins takes a witty look at adjusting to life in an almost coming of age way; dealing with issues like jealousy and betrayal and learning to be #TrueToYourself, this book is entertaining and fun!

Sorcery Of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
"She wasn’t a wielder of chains; she was a breaker of them. She was the library’s will made flesh"
This is by far my favourite book of the year so far!!
Sorcery Of Thorns is a beautifully written masterpiece of everything that makes a story a good one; a beautiful, fantastical kingdom where all sorcerers are evil and books have a life of their own; a place where magic is tied to Family Houses and each has a colour of their own but where magic is only accessed through the summoning of Demons; a glorious destination where the best, most respected profession (for me, anyway) is a librarian; and where love can blossom in the strangest of places and can endure and overcome whatever stands in its way.
I absolutely loved this book and I just gobbled it up so quickly; I cannot wait to get my hands on An Enchantment Of Ravens, now.
Highly enjoyable and I highly recommend this book to everyone!
Do let us know if you've read any of these and what your thoughts are in the comments below - we'd love to hear from you! Until next time...
Keep smiling
