Microgrid is an idea that allows people who can't afford a super computer but don't have enough work for a BOINC project, to submit smaller batches to a larger project. So a commercial BOINC project? It'd be interesting to create one, we aught to create another boinc project brainstorming thread - so as to attract more attention to the concept.
Not quite, it would be more of a community run type thing. It would allow smaller institution/any researcher to use BOINC but for free and without having to have a constant and large workload. I use world community grid as a comprison because of the mixing of diffrent work without one central computation.
microgrid is still too early for something like this -- keep in eye out in the coming weeks for some writings on the project.
