RE: [Gridcoin Poll] What is your opinion on the mandatory team Gridcoin requirement?

in #boinc8 years ago

CM made a very good explanation on another steemit page.

Not to mention all the security flaws and the power granted to team administrator, I have the feeling that the team Gridcoin was a way to deal with some problems in the early years of the currency.

Removing mandatory Team should increase the scalability of Gridcoin. This is something to think about if we really want a mature coin.
The NN should be a good alternative, but for the moment, I remain skeptical that the NN can do whatever the team currently support.

Maybe it's too soon to remove the mandatory team ?

Indeed, there's a significant challenge in scaling from 2k users to up to the 560k active BOINC users, specifically surrounding the neural network. I've been investigating solutions to this: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,23431.0.html

Since Gridcoin is a proof of stake cryptocurrency, new users need to buy GRC in order to stake - if we had 50k users join & start buying GRC that'd be significant buying pressure on exchanges.

As I can see, if there is more Gridcoin client, Neural Networks could overload projects by downloading XMLs.
If only project host keeps the NN it could solve the problem but it's basically a centralization, no ?

What do you think about graphene and hyperledger ? Could it be usefull in some ways ?

Hyperledger Fabric, Skytooth Lake and IBM Bluemix Blockchain (Cloud BAAS) are supported by Project Rain: https://github.com/grctest/project-rain-site

Indeed, graphene is a good bet:
