A partnership has been announced that will see artificial intelligence specialists SparkCognition work together with Boeing to use blockchain technology for the tracking of unmanned aircraft.
The largest aerospace company in the world and leading manufacturers of commercial jetliners, Boeing, plans to use blockchain technology to track unmanned aircraft during flight and “allocate traffic corridors and routes to ensure safe, secure transportation.”
A monumental opportunity
Partnering with Boeing is SparkCognition, whose founder and CEO Amir Husain said –
“Estimated by some analysts at $3 trillion, the urban aerial mobility opportunity will lead to the creation of the largest new market in our lifetimes.”
The world’s number one aviation leader partnering with the world’s most innovative industrial company means that unparalleled experience in safety, innovation, scale, and reliability will be brought to bear to address this monumental opportunity.
Looking to the advancement of next-generation travel, Boeing has kick-started a new department called Boeing NeXt.
The intention with Boeing NeXt is to leverage research and development activities in areas such as autonomous flight, and also advanced propulsion.
Laying the foundation for the future of air travel
Boeing NeXt will be led by Steve Nordlund, who will combine this role with his current position as vice president of Boeing HorizonX.
We are shaping the physical and connectivity infrastructure to ensure new air vehicles safely operate in the global airspace.
With a combination of award-winning machine learning technology, industrial internet of things, and finance, SparkCognition creates artificial intelligence systems that push the boundaries of what AI is capable of.
