BMW Motorrad presents Vision DC Roadster: the electric motorcycle true to the past

Having announced its intention to anticipate the advent of four-wheel electric cars, BMW is also displaying its Motorrad division, which is the one devoted to two-wheelers, presenting its first electric bike: the battery-powered Vision DC Roadster naked.

A concept as extreme as concrete, capable of grinding kilometers on the highway and providing a very interesting idea of mobility: a naked but very voluminous motorcycle with many appendices, main frame and saddle support are reduced to the bone and support the two major wheels but above all the voluminous but sophisticated core block.

Many technical and stylistic solutions are taken from the present combustion designs and from BMW Motorrad's iconic fixed points, beginning with the front shock absorber scheme called Duolever, i.e. not originates but a single component with an internal spring, a cardan final transmission and a cross-sectional component to recall the forms of the well-known Boxer motor, which in this situation does not exist

"We wanted to demonstrate the capacity of the BMW Group to protect identity while confronting the challenge of fresh electrical technology at the same moment," said Edgar Heinrich, design manager of BMW Motorrad.

According to BMW traction, performance, quality and finish no information about availability and price will be at the top so don't expect a model for the masses.
