BLOOD GROUPS
A blood group is a classification of blood, based on the presence and absence of antibodies and inherited antigenic substances on the surface of red blood cells (RBCs). These antigens may be proteins, carbohydrates, glycoproteins, or glycolipids, depending on the blood group system.
Among the well-known blood groups, the rarest one is said to be the AB -ve blood group.
Here's a list which states the blood groups of the US population,
- AB-negative (.6 percent)
- B-negative (1.5 percent)
- AB-positive (3.4 percent)
- A-negative (6.3 percent)
- O-negative (6.6 percent)
- B-positive (8.5 percent)
- A-positive (35.7 percent)
- O-positive (37.4 percent)
