WHY HAVE YOU CONCEIVED THIS THING IN YOUR HEART?

"WHILE IT REMAINED, WAS IT NOT YOUR OWN? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? WHY HAVE YOU CONCEIVED THIS THING IN YOUR HEART? YOU HAVE NOT LIED TO MEN BUT TO GOD.”
Acts 5:4 (NKJV)

Comment: Trying to impress people can cost you your life. The couple in this Bible passage wanted to impress Men, humans, but sinned against God. They sold their landed property, brought a part of the money or proceeds, insinuating or trying to suggest that they had brought the whole money. Their unfaithfulness was unfolded by the Holy Spirit through Apostle Peter that the money brought was not the whole money.
The man was confronted, and he opened up; being reproved, he dropped dead instantly. This was repeated when the wife came a couple of hours later—she also dropped dead. You can deceive or cajole Man or humans, but you cannot deceive God: "NEVERTHELESS THE SOLID FOUNDATION OF GOD STANDS, HAVING THIS SEAL: “THE LORD KNOWS THOSE WHO ARE HIS,” and, “LET EVERYONE WHO NAMES THE NAME OF CHRIST DEPART FROM INIQUITY" (2 Timothy 2:19 NKJV).
Whoever is calling the name of Christ Jesus should depart from lying, deceit, stealing, or whatever evil (Ephesians 4:21-25,28-30).

Those who are always in a mess like what the couple, Ananias and Sapphira, found themselves, are those who like to be praised by men—humans (Galatians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 2:4).
Be real in your relationship with God and the practice of your faith. If you impressed people that you are a good person, you are a devoted believer, or whatever, while you are not; What would that yield or produce for you? When people believe that you are what you are not, Would that make God accept you?
If other people, other believers in that church, were impressed by the couple that they gave all the proceeds of their land which they sold and they are being praised:
a. Would that make God to praise them also?
b. Would the impression they created before other believers or people as a good and devoted believer who gave their whole money to God made them acceptable before God?
The only One or person a believer should endeavour to please is God.
There are many people, even the professed believers, in the church today whose goal is about impressing Man or humans (1 Thessalonians 2:4).
Some are working in the church to impress their pastors. Some are Giving their substance or money to impress their pastors and other members of the church; they are not actually Giving because they love God or His Kingdom. If such people are not praised or their names are not mentioned as the givers or donors of those things they brought—either money or any other material thing—they would be offended and might threaten to leave the church.

It is a thing to be regretted that some ministers are slaves or errand boys of such people, they do not have the boldness of telling such people the truth, like Peter did in the case of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:4).
Some people, so-called believers, are like alpha and omega in the church where they worship or attend. The pastor or the entire people in the leadership worship them as If they are God, all because of the money they give.
If I may tell you the truth, If you are in a church or ministry or fellowship or any gathering of believers where they have turned you to an object of worship because of the money you give or donate; you are on a slippery path. You would have to humble yourself or leave the place before you die prematurely; because you are taking the place of God (Isaiah 42:8). The glory and praise that should be given to God is now being given to you; all because you are the highest giver—the highest giving member.
Apostle Paul admonishes the rich people through the epistle written to Timothy:
17 COMMAND THOSE WHO ARE RICH IN THIS PRESENT AGE NOT TO BE HAUGHTY, NOR TO TRUST IN UNCERTAIN RICHES BUT IN THE LIVING GOD, WHO GIVES US RICHLY ALL THINGS TO ENJOY. 18 LET THEM DO GOOD, THAT THEY BE RICH IN GOOD WORKS, READY TO GIVE, WILLING TO SHARE, 19 STORING UP FOR THEMSELVES A GOOD FOUNDATION FOR THE TIME TO COME, THAT THEY MAY LAY HOLD ON ETERNAL LIFE" (1 Timothy 6:17-19 NKJV).
Whoever is Giving in the church or ministry or any gathering of believers should have eternity in view; not about human accolades. Not about impressing any person, but Giving because you love God and His Kingdom or work.
Peace.
