THE BODY IS NOT FOR SEXUAL IMMORALITY BUT FOR THE LORD
"FOODS FOR THE STOMACH AND THE STOMACH FOR FOODS, but God will destroy both it and them. NOW THE BODY IS NOT FOR SEXUAL IMMORALITY BUT FOR THE LORD, AND THE LORD FOR THE BODY."
1 Corinthians 6:13 (NKJV)
Comment: Here in the above Bible passage Apostle Paul was using food and stomach to illustrate the subject of a believer's body and sexual immorality. Since a believer's body is for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body, the believer should not use his or her body for sexual immorality: "DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT YOUR BODIES ARE MEMBERS OF CHRIST? SHALL I THEN TAKE THE MEMBERS OF CHRIST AND MAKE THEM MEMBERS OF A HARLOT? CERTAINLY NOT! (1 Corinthians 6:15 NKJV). The harlot in question here does not necessarily mean commercial harlots or sex workers, but whoever is not your spouse that you had an affair with is a harlot.
The spiritual implication, that is, If you had carnal affairs with someone who is not your spouse; you are joined with the person and become one—you have a soul tie with the person (1 Corinthians 6:16). Spiritually speaking, you become one with whoever person you had an immoral affair with. The more persons you had an affair with, the more the number of people who have a part of you, your person (1 Corinthians 6:17). Thus, the admonition: "FLEE SEXUAL IMMORALITY" (1 Corinthians 6:18 NKJV).
You should endeavour to keep yourself: "FOR YOU WERE BOUGHT AT A PRICE; THEREFORE GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR SPIRIT, WHICH ARE GOD'S (1 Corinthians 6:20 NKJV).
The fact that sexual Sin appeals to the longings or desires of human nature or body, any number of people, including believers, are easily trapped in it. This is the reason why the admonition says: "FLEE SEXUAL IMMORALITY" (1 Corinthians 6:18). Moreso, If you did commit the Sin, you had sinned against your own body: "EVERY SIN THAT A MAN DOES IS OUTSIDE THE BODY, BUT HE WHO COMMITS SEXUAL IMMORALITY SINS AGAINST HIS OWN BODY (1 Corinthians 6:18), And indirectly sinning against God. Because YOUR BODY IS FOR THE LORD AND THE LORD FOR YOUR BODY (1 Corinthians 6:13). Your body also is called the temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19), And: "IF ANYONE DEFILES THE TEMPLE OF GOD, GOD WILL DESTROY HIM. FOR THE TEMPLE OF GOD IS HOLY, WHICH TEMPLE YOU ARE" (1 Corinthians 3:17 NKJV).
Peace.
