It is amazing the number of clients that come to me and ask me to do SEO on a site they have built themselves with no clue of what they are doing. The problems that arise with this, is they want to rank for certain keywords and key phrases but they are utterly irrelevant to the existing site.
And, the few pounds they save by building the site themselves, ends up costing them more when it comes to trying to fix the SEO, this includes complete content re-writes, fixing of headers, implementation of metadata and so on.
If they had initially got someone professional to build their site for them, and with the keywords in mind first, it would have been a lot easier and a lot more affordable.
Despite the rant, it does put food on my table, fixing these rookie errors.
