MAYWEATHER VS McGREGOR - HOW FLOYD LOSES / A FIGHT FOR THE MONEY

Now that it's certain that the Floyd vs Conor fight(s) is happening, we can ask ourselves the question "How will the involved parties benefit from it?" and  "Who's reputation will be more affected by this fight?".

Floyd

Floyd Mayweather is arguably the best boxer of this generation and one of the best of all time, with a perfect record of '49-0' of which 26 were by KO. His professional boxing career has lasted for 21 years which is almost as old as his next opponent Conor McGregor, who is 28 years old. 

So how will this fight affect Floyd's legacy?

The truth is that taking out the big payday, which is certainly bigger than what McGregor will be getting from this fight, Floyd doesn't have much to win from this fight. If Floyd wins and gets the perfect '50-0' record, boxing purists will always deny the legitimacy of his victory since he's technically fighting a boxing amateur therefore that in itself can taint his entire record. 

If he loses, which is very unlikely if we keep in mind the stats and taking into consideration that he's an experienced boxer and a defensive genius( but hey!!! this is a combat sport and you never know! One hit can get you sleeping!), that alone can destroy his entire legacy. Not only, it gives a bad rep to the entire sport of boxing since its best fighter couldn't go head-to-head with a "rookie" in the sport. 

So how does Floyd benefit from this fight?

If we talk about the legacy then it all depends on who sees it. There's a group who will say: "McGregor is not a boxer therefore Floyd's still 49-0" 

And there's the other group who will say: "McGregor's still a fighter therefore Floyd's record is 50-0"

However it goes, his legacy will be argued!

So why doing it at all?

Perhaps this is all for  "Money Mayweather" and not for "Preety Boy Floyd"!

At the end of the day however it turns out, we can all agree that it will be an entertaining show worth watching!
