I Need Help With Steemit, Tell Me If This Is a Good Post or a Shit Post

source
So I'm reading a post of a long term steemian, thinking it is travel photos that they have taken. The title invites you to go for a walk around a Colombian city with the author. The post is a bunch of photos credited to pixabay.com or other sites, not his own, with small comments in between.
The author has a reputation 70+ and at the end of the post he mentions 20+ important steemians that new people may want to follow with @ symbols, mentions some contests others run and some how-to help links.
The post is only worth $20 at the moment, but many of the big accounts that had been linked, blindly upvoted.
I could do this 20 times a day with no problem. Chop some cool photos of cool places, name some influential people, leave a few links and make a nice profit.
Is that formula a shit post or a good post?
To me that is a bullshit post. Just wondering. I don't want to start a war with the author so I have not used names.

Here we go, our guilty pleasures lol. Now I'm really curious who that is? How can people, especially a veteran member, just lose some creativity and have the guts to do something like that lol. While some people here are actually getting a life, so they can come back to their screen and write legit experiences.
Does it make him feel better that he is not actually traveling and not having his own photos? Delusional. Bad thing is that he gets to attract those with big sp.
I've seen this tactic from another old member, he pretends writing this 'curating' thing when all he was doing was showcase the already popular members, and he's pretending that he only wants to feature those who are providing value to the community. Then on that same post, he complained about getting only $20 for featuring them lol. Cheeky huh, such a poser. I think he's only doing this mentioning the big guys/kiss ass to attract some big upvotes.
The post is linked in the asterisk at the end of my last comment. Let me know if that type of post is garbage or something worth doing, because all I see is a waste of time method of making a few bucks.
Yeah BS post, I left a sarcastic comment there lol. Maybe you can try to upvote it so it will be more visible up. That's the way to make money here now huh, post some random photos and mention the big guys. How long is this going to run around here? Haven't they realized that there's more to improve here than just being able to change the cover photo lol
I was actually feeling more positive lately until I read your post haha, now I'm back to the other side. It's more fun.
OK cool, the dark side is fine, I'll upvote your post. Thanks for checking, thought I was going crazy.
I love what you wrote. If he leaves you a shitty comment, I need to see it. You are now the first comment. Thanks.
Hahaha, I don't know if he gets it lol but let's see. Thanks! Yeah, you're not alone, sometimes I think I'm going crazy here too.
there's thing...it's called individual discrimiation.
if you don't like it don't upvote it.
if you REALLLy don't like it put the author on mute.
other peoples' milage might vary..
You are correct. 100%.
I just need to vocalize my frustration for the rewarded network of shitposts that I see on Steemit. I feel it impacts the site in a negative way. I am not trying to convince anyone of anything. I was seeking a level of consensus from the audience and I found a nice mix of attitudes on the subject.
Always appreciate your opinion.
Thank you.
I might add that a MAJOR reason (perhaps the only one) that so called 'shitposts' get upvoted is
bots..
imagine have a thousand accounts. Each account is a bot. Each one upvotes your shitpost.
oh wait...it's not necessary to imagine it.
it's happening as we speak.
That is the truth
That's bullshit. There many newbies like me who's sincerely write a good content to be appreciated. How come a veteran like him do that? Someone who knows better.
Don't get discouraged. You can still make money and build an audience while making quality content. It's just a bit stacked.
I'm not going to go to the trouble of finding a horse-shit image to compliment your Bullshit one, but they're both accurate.
I followed the link and noticed that poor, innocent, lonely sweeeeeettsssssj is back at it again too.
Fucking yay.
So sweet. I just want to come here to write, engage, possibly make a buck, but watching others game the same system I'm playing in drives me a bit nuts. I can't ignore it when someone is profiting by cheating the system and shorting me at the same time. I just want peace. Can't there be a place that has no corruption? I don't think it could ever exist.
You're not alone there. I'm disappointed by some of the names I saw that had upvoted that post. Maybe they're on auto vote?
It may be crappy content, but that is apparently the latitude you get once you are part of the "popular crew".
I thought we were done with cliques when we finished high school. I guess it's a lifetime phenomena.
True story. All of life is a popularity contest, if we're going to be honest about it. Here's something I just wrote to another user earlier:
"Steem, like all social media, is and will be partially a popularity contest.
C grade content that reached 1000 people is worth a lot more to the market than A+ grade material that reached 2 people.
Combine these two facts and it is what it is, reality. You can play along, watch, or quit, but you can't really change the fundamental game."
Well said. It is a popularity contest.
There's a lot of garbage on here. I don't let it bother me. Instead, I focus on my content, and nothing else matters. :)
I'm here to write, and I don't need to profit from it either. It's just a blog. Being paid for it is a bonus. If you look at it that way, it's easy to ignore the bad stuff.
@finnian, I hear what you're saying, I'm just afraid that the BS is going to be the end of the site. It's a real possibility. One of the Dev's on here could recreate this and promise a minimum of policing, I know, I don't want policing, and draw away a big portion of the site. Who knows?
I added a comment I had made to @theblindsquirl below.
Definitely a bullshit post. Not much originality. A Little thought and copping others hard work. So sad that they have lost what credibility they had, Obviously here for the money only and not to be part of the community.
Agreed. You can see the formula, mention the friends, cut and paste, say that you love everyone. $$
Well, sounds like bullshit to me. And there seems to be a lot of bullshit. I might even be contributing to it. Sometimes I see posts with really bad photography getting votes but at least they didn't use someone elses. What I want to know is how do new accounts get such high reputation numbers when they've hardly posted or interacted? And some people have an amazing number of posts. Anyway, blah, blah, blah, lol.
Check their wallets. Plenty of shitty posters have come in here and parked a lot of money and choose to rape the rewards pool vs creating quality content. @lightrhythm there is plenty of BS, just needed another view on this. Tomorrow, I may try the same formula and see how it works. I'll call it the "Amazing Tour of Places I've Never Been" *
Yeah, I was thinking that. I'll have to look again. Ha ha, that would be a funny post! Well, this is bizzaro world we're living so I wouldn't be surprised if it worked.
https://steemit.com/humor/@wakeupsheeps/amazing-tour-of-places-i-ve-never-been-1-dubrovnik Here is my attempt
Damn. Good one! I up voted, just because...
BUUULSHIIIT!
Well said @owenwat. Thanks for the support.
Bullshit! Ugh, Steemit is really pissing me off lately, it's like you have to join a freakin gang on here to make any money (as I frantically search for a gang to join).
It is true. Try msp on discord if you can deal with chatrooms. You do need a gang, I never actually did join one and it shows in my earnings.
Clicks, chatrooms ugh, they should get a life lol.
https://steemit.com/humor/@wakeupsheeps/amazing-tour-of-places-i-ve-never-been-1-dubrovnik Here is my mock post using that guys blog formula.
Yeah, I just don't know if I'm down with that... is it so much to ask to just post content and have it upvoted on merit? Steemit is a microcausim of exactly what is wrong with the world!
I've been trying to prove out the merit based posting model and it doesn't seem to work. Good luck.
I feel like I really need to write my discord and Steemit.chat rant.I really don't think using all these chatrooms and other 3rd party apps helps the blockchain.
Btw would you be down for some sort of reading circle for politics and philosophy that is kept on the blockchain? All votes manually given after reading articles and not just through bots?
Meant as an alternative gang to all the ones who operate from the shadows of discord.
I'm having trouble understanding your concept. I don't function well in chatrooms. Is this "Circle" like a chatroom?
no, I want to keep it on the blockchain.
With reading circle I wanted to indicate that a membership + posting with the tag does not equal profits. The articles should be read and upvoted if it was a nice read. Everything should be done on the blockchain (Steemit) including Membership application and organisation.
This way I want to make it more transparent (and therefor honest) and also way more accessible.
I also have been @politics-trail a few months ago, so I am no stranger to discord-clans. I want to build an alternative to them ;)
