Why Every Pharmacist And Pharmacy students Must work on drug abuse awareness Daily.
The recent spike on drug abuse around our society had risen up to the level it is ,mainly because our society have little or no clear idea of the effects from which abusing drugs can do. This is the main reason why every pharmacist and students of pharmacy must take it upon themselves to educate their neighbours daily about drugs. When it comes to information on uses and effects of drugs on humans ,the pharmacist has the work. Pharmacists have to stand up for the profession before the profession stands down in the society.
The ministry of health trust on the pharmacist to lay information about drugs to the society .The ministry's trust is on the pharmacist to save the society from drugs related issues. Pharmacists have to help out our society. And then the idea of pharmacist involving themselves in drug misuse is not reasonable. This is the main reason is hard for them to tell people why they should not abuse drugs or take drugs without a prescription. Today we see pharmacists becoming addicted to drugs just because they have access to them. This is not good. As a professional you should uphold the image of your profession. Educating the society on prescription drugs, drug abuse, drug expiration, buying of illegal drugs, and buying of contraband drugs helps not just in preventing vices in the community, but also helps the ministry of health in helping the profession grow stronger. Pharmacist, help our country Nigeria. Save our youths. Talk to the youths and teenagers around you. Let them know you are pharmacist or a pharmacy student. Let the nation know what you are doing. Help the NGOs. Join one. These will change our society for the better. There must be a revolution of change. Though we know we can’t stop drug abuse completely, but we can curb its spike. We can make things go low. Let’s devote our time and efforts to NGOs which have been involved in this. A little word to the hearts of humans can go beyond our expectations.
We can do this pharmacists. We can do this pharm. Students. This is our job . This is part of our call to humanity. This is our profession.
COMMUNITY PHARMACISTS;
Our community pharmacists are the group of health professionals closest to the people. They must take advantage of that opportunity to adhere to prescribed issues. They should check individuals before giving them drugs. No body should be sold drugs just because they had money. It is beyond their money. It is about them being alive or not.
Community pharmacists should not also just come into business with the only intention of making profits. They must use their knowledge to uplift the minds of those coming to them for purchase. They must give the relevants information needed to the communities.
DISTRIBUTION PHARMACISTS;
Sales of drugs shouldn't be a do or die affairs . It should be to the benefit of the consumers. Selling of drugs illegally because of high profits,is a bad thing. It should stop. No illegal business brings fulfilment.
