I feel for your ears and for the introvert in you. The entire "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" experience must have been so awkward and embarrassing. I don't know what I would have done if it were me living that... probably would have run away as fast as I could haha
The reception looked beautiful, and so did the cake. It's a shame you went through that never-ending lunch eating only noodles and didn't even get to try the cake!!
I was sweating bullets, not from the heat but from the sheer embarrassment of him pulling me up there and singing a love ballad to me. Only in Vietnam... Haha
I'm pretty sure that cake was just a facade, the only real part was the icing and maybe the very top bit. Do Vietnamese weddings have that type of cake usually or is it more of a western thing to have cake? Regardless, I went and got a less that exciting piece of 'cheesecake' last night to compensate for the lack of cake in my life.

Hahaha well, the Vietnamese are known for loving romantic songs and movies. Sounds like you were a very special friend for him... ;P
The top layer of the cake does look different compared to the rest. I wouldn't be surprised if it was made of cardboard, but I would be slightly disappointed. Cake is cake, and that was a wedding! Cake was a MUST! Then again I'm not entirely sure if that's just a western tradition that they have tried to insert into their modern ways... either way, I'm sorry for your unhappy taste buds.

I think it was just a place holder. That's no cake!
I feel as though it might be a western thing, judging by the purely aesthetic cake present at this wedding. Oh well, there will be more cake to come!
