Have you ever heard the following saying?
There are three types of people in the world: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened.
Most people fall into the second or third categories. They wish their circumstances would change, but they don’t take any steps to improve them.
The few that fall into the first category don’t hope or wish for a better life. They choose to create it.
Which of the three groups do you fall in?
It’s entirely within your control
You control the quality of your life. You can get better results by becoming better so you can do better.
If you want to earn a lot more money, you can become the kind of person who serves countless others and becomes indispensable in their job. Your work can solve pressing problems, improve people’s lives, and get noticed by influential people.
When you take control and do those kinds of things, you become wealthy. You become a millionaire or a multimillionaire.
Here are 7 ways to do it:

  1. Spend at Least 1 Hour a Day Learning
Most people work merely to collect a paycheck. They give their time, but they don’t put in the effort to do their best work. Then, they wonder why they don’t get a big raise.
However, the world’s most successful people strive to be and get better. They are passionate learners who want to make the most of themselves and a difference in the world. And it shows in the quality of their work.
The benefits you’ll gain from reading and developing your mind each day are immeasurable. Not only will you earn significantly more money, but every aspect of your life will improve.
  2. Invest in Yourself
When we don’t pay for something, we may start it, but we rarely finish it. However, when we have some skin in the game, we are far more likely to take it seriously and follow through.
If you are serious about becoming the type of person who makes things happen, make investing in yourself one of your top priorities. There’s usually a correlation between people’s level of success and the amount they’ve spent on their education.
If the idea of investing in yourself scares you, look at it this way…
Unlike other investments, investing in yourself always pays off. For every dollar you spend on your education, growth, and skills, you’ll likely get at least 100 dollars back in return.
  3. Become an Expert
If you want to become wealthy, take a serious look at the industry you work in and determine how much you think it will grow over the next ten years.
If you can see no limit to the industry’s growth, then it’s reasonable to say there’s no limit to your opportunity for growth within your industry in that same timeframe.
An expanding, dynamic industry not only needs but seeks the extraordinary person to share in its growth, and will richly reward the person of vision and action – a person who is committed to producing excellent work.
There are people in your industry right now who are writing their own ticket. You can become one of them by taking time every day to think of how you can put more into your job, how to be more creative, and how to provide exceptional service.
Test this idea by doing it for the next ninety days. You’ll be amazed at the difference it will make for you.
Then, if you continue to give your work all you’ve got, your industry will provide you with anything you want for the rest of your life.
  4. Set Big Money Goals
Imagine turning your annual income into your monthly income.
Can you see it? Does it even seem possible?
Well, it is possible. There are many people doing it, and if one person can do it, so can you.
As Bob often says, “People don’t earn $100,000 a year because they want to earn $100,000 a year. They do it because they don’t know how to earn $100,000 a month.”
The only difference between people who are earning $100,000 or more a month and you is your level of awareness.
To raise your level of awareness, start by making a committed decision that you’re going to increase your income by 12 times. Write the goal on a goal card (in the present tense) and read it several times every day.
As you think about your goal, new ideas for how you can achieve it will start to flow. Some of those ideas will scare you, but don’t ignore or reject them. You can’t change your results by 12 times by engaging in the same thinking and behaviors you’re currently performing.
You’ll need to start educating yourself about how you could conceivably achieve your goal. You’ll need to become bolder, face your fears and cross boundaries most people never cross. You’ll need to create more, regularly step out of your comfort zone, and fail more.
And you’ll have to do those things over and over until your goal becomes a reality.
  5. Create Multiple Sources of Income
Virtually all wealthy people have Multiple Sources of Income (MSI).
MSI is not another job. It should be viewed as a source of income that is fun, creative, and passive. It should not interfere with, nor cause you to jeopardize your primary source of income.
By developing MSI, you can earn many times what you are presently receiving from your primary source of income; it could be millions of dollars.
While there are countless ways to earn money with MSI, here are a few examples to get your creative juices flowing:
    • write a book, song, play, or movie script
    • join a network marketing company – every person in your downline is an MSI!
    • invent something
    • intellectual property (give your idea to someone else to take to market and receive a royalty)
    • real estate investing
  6. Plant Money Seeds
In The Magic of Thinking Big, David Schwartz said, “You can’t harvest money unless you plant the seeds that grow money. And the seed of money is service. Put service first, and money takes care of itself.”
Dr. Schwartz’s words demonstrate his understanding of the Law of Cause and Effect, which is the principal law on which everything in the universe operates. It’s another way of saying, “As you sow, so shall you reap.”
For today’s topic, it might be best to put it this way: your rewards in life will always match your service. That said, each little “extra” you do for others is a money seed.
Because you’re planting seeds, you must recognize that whether you’re a business owner or an employee, you earn more money after you improve your performance.
When your motivation is to give, you’ll start to get insights about how you can improve other people’s lives. You’ll start contributing more, which will lead to far more opportunities, deeper relationships, and higher monetary rewards.
  7. Work with a Sense of Urgency
One factor that distinguishes people who make things happen from those who don’t is the way they do their work each day.
Most people are always busy, but rarely accomplish much of real value.
However, people who make things happen are focused on a specific target. They know where they’re going and what they need to do to get there. They have intensity, a focal point, a purpose. So, they work with a sense of urgency—getting a lot done in a short period of time.
When you work with a sense of urgency, you’re thinking 10 times bigger than everyone else. You’ don’t have to work harder—you just work more efficiently through systematic thought instead of random action.
Learn to make your work count by developing a principal purpose and a systematic plan to achieve it. In so doing, you’ll emerge from the rabble of “watchers” to that of achiever and leader.
    It’s not about the money
The greatest reward of being a millionaire is not the amount of money you earn. It’s the kind of person you must become to get there. You must bring more of yourself, more of the potential that is inside you, to the surface.
Money, obviously, is very important. It solves a lot of problems. It allows you to provide service beyond your physical presence.
But money is a means to an end. If you are doing work you love and believe in, money becomes a tool for helping more and more people and making a difference.
