The TH Files: Week 27: Thursday
Thursday: Should We be worried?
It's funny when you mention the word artificial intelligence to some businessmen, the first thing you hear out of their mouths is either "it's a myth", "it's a pipe dream", or they regurgitate some stupid crap they've heard about Skynet and the machines taking over.
Now do I think the future machines may look at us as if we're insects? Absolutely! But I have a feeling we're a long time from that happening. Of course it gets a bit freaky when you see things like Google Duplex. Having your AI make an appointment for you to a restaurant or hair salon via the telephone? Just seems like it wouldn't be happening so soon. But I guess it's just a logical step for where we're headed.
"The company’s future priority is looking at how artificial intelligence is making software development easier and more accessible – and helping find developers from parts of your company that perhaps you weren’t thinking bout." - Julio Avalos, GitHub’s Chief Strategy Officer -https://www.idgconnect.com/abstract/28789/where-github
When Microsoft bought GitHub, I remembered an article a few years ago that talked about GitHub using artificial intelligence to fix software issues. I don't think people realized Microsoft wasn't making a play just to get its hands on software, I feel they've made a play for GitHub to get access to an AI that could self repair itself. Or write its own code with the library of codes and it would now have access to. Imagine in the future Microsoft being able to have you say "Hey Cortana write me a code for this" or "build me an app for this idea."
In the future we’ll be managing AI in its pursuits to develop software. Unless you're a developer that's writing an AI to develop other AIs, I don't see how you’ll have a job in the future.
Researchers have already found that AI can write better AI's than humans. So, I think it's time for us to think about what we’ll be offering as services to earn a future income.

I tell all my friends/clients the same thing, that I'm going to tell you! Entertainment!!!! Is going to be the gross national product of the United States within the next 10 to 20 years. It may be sooner if we don't get our heads out of our ass as a country that’s supposed to be leading the world.
