Homestead Buried Under Mid April Snow Storm 3 Days And Going
Our homestead is buried under so much snow and it still keeps coming down. It started on April 13 as I was working on the compost heap and kept going and going and going......
We had hoped to get our garden started but the snow put an end to that idea before we got much done. It had snowed about a foot the week before and it was just starting to clear off. While I was working on the compost bin we had thunder and lightning and - snow.
The compost is still frozen solid to the ground though so it was hard going. I had to chip and chop away at it. I had a full wheel barrow of chicken bedding which had to go out into the compost. I layered that with some of the older compost in order to mix it in with some aged material.
The other two compost bins are going to be ready to use this year. If we ever see dry ground again.
As I was wrapping up the job, it started to snow. And it snowed hard for the next three days straight. It is still snowing even as I write this. They are saying in town they got 3 feet of snow but I think we only got 2 feet up to the present date - April 16, 2018 at 8:30 pm.
Someone sent me an awesome Veddha Minercase V3 six bay mining rig frame and a box of risers. This is perfect timing because I need to get two mining rigs off the dining room table and the coffee table. Normally I make my own frames but I am not getting out to the off grid wood shop any time soon. The solar panels are under snow anyway so there is no power out there.

All we have done for the past four days is to shovel snow. We have a lot of chickens in different pens so we have to keep shoveling them out all day, every day. It is a responsibility that we have to take care of no matter what the weather.
We had purchased some broiler chickens about a month and a half ago when the weather was generally going to be in the 50s by day and 30s by night. But recently it has been 30s by day and much lower at night. Well, about the time we got the birds it turned cold and stayed cold. The broilers are the ones out in the middle of the front yard, which you can see in the photo. They are doing fine though because we are taking care of them.

This is how the scam works.
Reid exaggerates and skews his narrative.
Referring to the photos I shared,
especially the first photo, the wood shop panels can be seen on the right middle of photo,
there is no way he got enough snow unless he is too lazy to brush the snow off of the panels.
It is clear in these photos, the panels by the house are not connected.
Reid @thediyworld is NOT off grid.
He never was.
This is one of the many parts of his scam to remain unemployed and to be "self sufficient while on a budget",
(as he writes on all his websites and donation platforms),
with YOUR donations and money.

actually snow enhances solar power production. one it reflects more light onto the panels and two it keeps the system cold which reduces resistance on the system thus allowing more power generation. but you have never actually run a real system so you wouldn't know this.
